Your USB ports be must not be updated with the latest drivers for your mouse.Your mouse must not be plug and play model.Install its drivers or reinstall and update your USB drivers.
Which USB ports are you using? I just had this issue on a customer's computer and it turns out that a 5 port USB 2.0 hub they had installed in the pc wasn't functioning properly and so I would get a code 10 on their iPod nano. I plugged it into the onboard USB 1.0 ports and it installed correctly and synched. I would suggest trying other USB ports. If that doesn't work then go to Programs and Features in Control Panel and uninstall all apple products and then reboot and reinstall iTunes.
You do need the drivers installed. look for the device CD or disc and install it. but if you already have the drivers installed and you still get the same message, its possible that your usb device is bad or there might be bad connection between the usb device and your computer... try to use another usb port or try to plug your device to another computer to try and isolate the problem.
I have a solutions that might work, please for the love of god, next time give it as much detail as possible. Navigate to Start>run type:MSCONFIG. Enable everything unless you are absolutely sure you don't need it. Right click on My Computer, click on properties. Go to the hardware tab at the top, click on device manager to see if there is a conflict. Try a different port. Try the hub on a different computer. If your hub has a power input, now would be the best time to plug it in. Plug directly into computer. Make sure the device is plugged in securely, same goes for the devices plugged into it. If that port is for power only and you plugged it in thinking it would work for data, please don't ask. Any error messages? If your computer can boot off a flash drive, Go to bios, test the port and the hub.
If you need additional USB ports, the best way to go is to get a USB card that fits into the computer. That way it comes with a CD software program and can be updated. They are now USB 2 configured and work great. I have had to remove a number of USB hubs to fix other computers that have had the same problem. Hope this info is of some help. Bud
