This will be what is called the end of life indicator. There will be 2 or so weeks of life left in the battery,it still keeps time but will soon stop.Use a quality watchmaker to change the battery and ask about its water seal.

Bottom of watch by second hand....what is symbol

You've probably heard people go on and on about the "sweep" or talk about how top quality watches don't make that tell-tale "tick-tock." For all intents and purposes, these people are right. When you pick up a Cartier or Chopard, the tiny hand measuring the passage of seconds glides effortlessly, like a toothless hockey player. In actuality, all wristwatches tick-tock. However, in a true quality watch, the internal mechanism (the movement) is so finely tuned and so well constructed, that these ticks happen as often as nine times a second, producing a flawless sweep. This is the difference between a five-dollar movement and a movement costing hundreds of dollars.

I was just given an older - 1996 Cartier Santos 18K & SS automatic watch - Two questions - I am using a watch winder on the days that I am not wearing the watch is that advisable? How do I...

Hi
The watch should have two position on the crown , first position should be for the date second for the main hands.
be careful not to push the button with the crown pulled out as this may alter the hand settings on the chrono.

Does anybody know which way i'm supposed to wind my cartier santos watch? Options: clock-wise, counter clock-wise, or multidirectional?? thanks

mcdevito75 here, Generally your Cartier watch is wound in a clockwise direction simply, due to how it:s made, in this direction the mainspring is tightened or wound and turning the crown in a counter-clockwise position only free wheels the winding mechanism. I would advise you wind your watch in a multi direction, however not to the very, very end of It"s winding capacity, once you feel the crown getting tension only 4--5 more multi-direction turns should be enough to maintain a good wind to your Cartier watch.

My Cartier Santos displays the correct time, but the second hand moves only every 5 seconds. Is this a battery issue?

mcdevito75, here, Most likely it"s simply the design of the watch itself. Best Bet, Check with a small watch repair shop in your area. -------- Generally a battery issue would affect the time keeping of the watch.

My Cartier Santos Stainless/gold Screws watch band is damaged and needs to be repaired or replaced. Are there replacement links available? My band is about to pop out on one of the link movement...

Only CARTIER itself will solve it. There is no way you can repair it outside CARTIER. Contact CARTIER and ask what the cost would be. Be prepaired to pay a lot.

Cartier signature

The cartier logo forms the right hand part of the 'V' on the VII numeral on my watch.

Initally it just looks the same as the V numeral until you look very closely.

Cartier santos links

The links of this watch require special tools and expertise.it's not like a seiko. you should take it to a cartier jeweler I don't think they would even charge you for that.
