My brand new summer infant slim and secure baby monitor parent unit will not hold a charge. It only works when plugged in. Customer support sent a replacement battery but the same thing happens. Does the whole thing need replaced?

I would say that your IR sensors are burning out. Turn the lights off and look at the camera. A bunch of small red lights should be coming on . You will see which ones and how many are burned out. There are a couple of fixes but the cheapest will be a new camera.

We tried taking the battery out, running the monitor on a/c power only, and deleting then resyncing the camera. None worked. Finally I just ended up calling the summer infant customer service line. They told me that the unit had to be replaced. If you are within 12 months without a receipt, or 15 months with the receipt, you can send it back and get a new one for free without paying any shipping and handling.

This indicates the rechargeable battery is exhausted and will need to be replaced.

Same problem here... Blinking green light. Purchased new battery and is still doing the same thing. Very disappointed-these cameras are not cheap. :(

Turn on both the camera and monitor. Press the power button on the front of the monitor to access the camera selection menu. Make sure your unit is set to "cam 1". This should fix the problem.

I dont think yours is a battery issiue, I would call the manufacture on the first page of the manual.
although if you dont replace the charge on the unit at least monthly the batteries wont be healthy. If you are going to store it make sure the alkaline batteries are out of the mic or transmitter unit. and you can unplug the rechargeable one as well. this will help the battery life.

ok,just figured it out,the plug that goes into the socket vertically is pretty much useless. As soon as you plug it into the handheld device to charge, it shuts off. I took the plug that goes into the socket horizontally and plugged it into the handheld and it began charging. So to use the product, you need to charge the handheld fully and then use the same plug to plug in the actual video camera that is pointed at baby,then you will be set to go. The company should send 2 horizontal plugs.

Remove the led battery from the backside of the unit (this will fully turn off the device and the green light will go out) Give it a few seconds, wipe off and put the battery back in. Hold the power button as you would normally turn the unit on & you should have your picture back in no time. (This happened to me this morning & just got it up & running now before bedtime) Hope this helps!

Mine jut did this. What did you end up doing. I did what other people said which was take the battery our and put it on the stand... NOPE... green light on but not sound or picture. I could hold the button down until the cows come home and it will not turn on.
