We recently got the tv off of a guy and he said that when he turned it on one time it just flashed and then nothing would come on. I took the back off of it and its not leaking and fluid and the fuse not blown. I unplugged the power from inside the tv and then plugged it back in and when i plugged it into the wall it turns on...kinda... 3 green lights will come on inside and it will flash red in the front. Then when the next 2 green lights comes on it goes back out and there is a red blinking light inside and thats it. The guy i got it from said that a tv guy told him it was the power supply...im not sure....Would i need ti buy a new power supply? (if so where can i find one) or is there something else i can check?.....Can ya help?
If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.
Here are the symptoms...
Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off.
Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.
Hope this helps,
Yes, i just answered a post to another problem simular to this, it is the POWER SUPPLY, it was blown either from an electric surge, caused by storms or ground faults, or it was shorted. you need to get a new one, have a professional install it for you.
