Ring tones are at a whisper. I can not hear the phone ring

I am 61 years young & have never had a cell phone. I chose the Samsung U340, & a monthly plan from Cricket. My cat purrs louder than this phone rings. Is this a common problem ? I am hard of hearing. I want to have that cell phone ring that drives everyone crazy in a theater, because you can hear it all over the room. Any suggestions ?

<Most Cinemas have signs asking you to turn off your mobile in the theatre> :-) you don't want to upset those young whipper snappers now!

take the phone back if you aren't satisfied. you should be covered under your countries version of the Consumers Guarentees act. - if the product does not suit the purpose it was designed for, or it doesn't live up to its hype, or even if you don't think it was sold without full disclosure on its shortcomings, you should be able to ask for a full refund, or swap it for something that performs better, and you pay the difference in cost.

i recommend getting something with bluetooth support, and buy a bluetooth in-ear earpiece - this should help you with hearing the phone ring over background sounds, as it rings in the ear piece as well as from the phone speaker.

Phone will not ring, only vibrates even tho I use the side volumn control to choose ring volume one, or two, or three or four, or five. None work to make it ring

Hello

The reason your phone isnt ringing out is because the speaker of your phone is faulty.

The sounds made by your phone(including the ringing tone) is heard through the speaker and once it is faulty, you will not hear any sound coming from your phone.

The only solution is to have your speaker replaced.

Ring vs vibrate

This phone allows you to independently set ring and vibrate modes. When you access "Call Vibrate" to set the mode, also visit the "Call Ringtone" menu to turn off the ringer.

You may want to leave the vibrate mode OFF and your ring tone ON and use the quick keys to switch between ring and vibrate. Two ways to do this, push and hold the # key to switch between normal mode (the settings you chose in "Call Ringtone" and "Call Vibrate") or use the side volume button to access the "Master Volume" and select "All Off", "Vibrate" or a ring tone volume.

If this helps you, please leave me a good rating.

Problem finding saved sound

Symbian OS/S60 phone: With the Voice Recorder on the screen, open Options. Select Go To Gallery. All the recordings you have saved can be accessed from the Gallery. You should see a list of recorded tunes. Highlight a recording, open Options and choose "Set as ringing tone." Windows Mobile phone: When you are still in the Voice Recorder, highlight a recording in the list and open the Menu. Select Set As Ringtone.
If your phone menu doesn't show the Set As Ringtone choice at all, you have to set it manually. Go to the Home screen, push Start, and open File Manager. You have to move the recording from the folder /Storage/My Documents/Notes to the folder /Storage/Application Data/Sounds. Then, go to the Start menu and launch Settings. Select Sounds, open Ring Tone, and pick up the recorded ring tone.
