Generic problem for all Vacuums
How do you use and
How do you use and what attachments for upholstery cleaning with the Heritage II

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Kirby has a spin brush that is round on the newer Kirby’s and it works on the suction from the vacuum and it fits on the end of the vacuum hose but it does not fit into corners very well or your can take some Kirby shampoo in the spray water bottle and use a kitchen scrub brush for the corners. Other wise you can use the actually Kirby Shampooer of which is very hard and unfriendly; the spin brush would be my selection. You can check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and also in the yellow pages. Also you can call the Kirby factory to see if they can direct you. The Kirby factory is listed below:

How do I replace the roller brush on a kirby Heritage II?

The brushroll is held onto that baseplate by the metal brackets on either end of it. You have to slightly bend them outward to remove the brushroll.

Have a Kirby Heritage II vacuum. Need to replace a split fill tube. How do I remove the outer cloth bag from the mini-emptor, and then how do I take off the old/attach a new fill tube?

There is no need to remove the outer bag. The fill tube can be removed by cutting it off near the bottom and pulling on the support wire to unwind it from the neck on the mini-emptor. I usually hose down the bag and slosh it around in my laundry sink to clean it. After it dries, the new fill tube can be screwed onto the mini-emptor. You can wet the bottom of the tube with plain water to make it go on more easily. If you screw it on firmly, there is no need for cable ties at the bottom. Re-attach the top adaptor ( bag holder ), and secure it with cable ties.

Can I use the kirby heriatge II shampoo attachments with the kirby heritage vaccuum?

You should be able to. There's not enough difference in the Heritage models to make them incompatible.

How do you put on the attachment hose?

The Heritage II Legend...First you make sure that the machine is unplugged from any outlet,. Now, raise your height adjust to the highest level. Next you will need to turn your belt lifter on the front of the nozzel to the right as far as you can. Now flip the hinged light cover up, and turn the latch that holds down the head to the left. Your nozzle is now released. Now take the hose and roll it on to the bar from the front to the back, make sure it is aligned and then turn the latch to the right locking the hose, and you are ready to kirby it up! Hope this fixesya! Let me know, Thanks, Rene (the Vacuum Doctor)

Cleaning uphoustry

Furniture cleaning isn't a science: try out a few techniques before choosing the one that is right for your belongings. This step-by-step guide explains how to clean a sofa:
  1. Before using any upholstery cleaning products, vacuum the sofa or chair first to remove as much surface dirt and dust as possible. Be sure to use the correct attachments to avoid damage to the material - a soft brush attachment is ideal.
  1. Spot Clean. Using baby wipes or vinegar poured onto a strong microfiber cloth, apply to any obvious stains, wiping gently as you go. Remember to test the upholstery cleaning products on an inconspicuous area first.
  1. Overall Clean. Using soapy water and a microfibre cloth, gently wipe your sofa with the solution, allowing it to soak into the fabric and tackle the dirt beneath the surface. You only want to use a very small amount of water - don't saturate the material.
  1. Dry. Some people use a hairdryer to quickly dry a sofa, but allowing it to dry naturally is always the better option, if you have the time. To speed things up, open windows and allow the breeze to help with the drying process.

Roller brush doesn't move

Here is a online guide....it's for the G series Kirbys. They're similar enough that it should help. Pay special attention to the belt lifting process...it's exactly the same as for the Heritage II, and it's also where I think your problem lies. I have a Heritage II manual available too! Hope I have helped...
