I have a six year old carrier high wall split air conditioner that is displaying a code four (runs for 20 minutes then shuts down wall unit green light keeps flashing 4 times. if you switch off then on the circut breaker the unit cycles up and runs for another 20 minutes then the process needs to be repeated

Could be low discharge temp or high discharge temp. The first thing you should do is measure discharge temp of air when you have it running. You should have a 20 degree difference between room temp and supply air temp. If you do not, then have flare nuts connections checked. Most likely a small leak in connections from install.That is the first step. If low, leak gets fixed and a new charge weight in per name plate factory charge

There will be a list of flash codes in your manual or on the inside cover of the unit indicating what the problem is eg. low pressure or high pressure alarm

Check web site for significance of the four flashes. Could be that it is overheating and shutting down due to excessive current consumption.

Hi Marie, does the green indicator light on the front panel flash after it shuts down? If it does...count how many times it flashes this will refer to a fault code diagnostic.

It sounds like your compresssor is shutting off on an overload. After the overload cools down the compressor comes back on until the overload heats up and shuts the compressor off again.The fan keeps running as it is not on the same circuit as your compressor.

Indoor unit coil sensor fault. Disconnect from PCB measure resistance. 10 kOhm at 10C and 4 kOhm at 30C. if not replace sensor

P 4 code means problem with the outdoor unit, Most likely low on refrigerant. Check all copper pipe connections for leaks first, then add refrigerant after checking pressures.
