We had the motor go out on our unit. My father diassembled the blower while on the wall. He pulled the motor out and found that the bearings were cheap and unsealed. He replaced them with sealed and higher grade bearings from Grainger. He reassembled the unit and it worked. It sounds quieter.

You need the RPM, VOLTAGE, HORSE POWER(HP) info. Any HVAC or refrigeration supply house may sell you one. Most are wholesale only but 1 should sell it but won't offer a warranty, just in case you don't know what you are doing and miswire it. Air conditioning parts and supply.

Check the start winding capacitor on the compressor. It will trip the thermal overload device if it's bad. Be careful doing this because line voltage is present on the terminals and can give you a nasty shock even if the power has been removed from the unit.
