Hotpoint NVL333EYOWW electric dryer

This dryer has developed a sudden 'no-start' problem. I tested the wall current first, then door switch, then start switch, then belt switch. All test ok. I suspect the thermal switch. I would appreciate any/all ideas to repair this dryer. thank you in advance for any help you may offer.

I have the same prob, no start on ge hotpoint. I had to replace the cord about a yr ago because metal rubbed into cord & shorted out. Worked fine, except it seemed to run hotter than it had previously. But, 3 days ago it stopped working all together. I've tested the start switch, door switch, but not sure how to test the selector switch. But, I'm not sure if it has a thermal fuse. I tested one thermostat & it seemed to be working, but have not tested other. Any other ideas?

If it doesnt run at all its nothing to do w the thermal aspects at all. The motor would run regardless just no heat. Check all paths electrically to the motor and be sure to check the motor itself.

The thermostat and element are mounted on the back wall of the dryer. To gain access you must remove the drum. Here is my home movie:

I have a GE Hotpoint NVL333EYOWW electric dryer that gets very hot on top. Is that normal?

There was a long run of rigid ducting out to the vent. I stuck a leaf blower down the dryer-end of the duct and turned it on full blast. It blew a big chunk of lint out the vent and the dryer problem was resolved...

Hotpoint Dryer Heater stays on when door is opened

Strange. Heaters usually shut down with the spinning drum when door is open. If you check the schematic for unit you can check to see if in fact this is correct operation. Attached site usually has schematics for appliances. You might want to check. Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts

Hotpoint NVL333EYOWW mfg 9/99

I encountered the same problem. Turned out to be a blown thermostat, caused by too much moisture from the washer not spinning the delicate cycle enough and / or oversized dryer loads. Cut your load sizes in half and avoid using delicate cycles for cotton items. Very easy fix, Prices in the Midwest range from 30 to 40 USD. Godspeed.

Thermal switch is on the top in the back on the right side as you are facing the dryer. Pop the top off and voila, easy fix.
