PT-50 lc13 - pop and now no audio or video

Over the past few weeks we have noticed the picture looking dim - even ordered a bulb yesteday, but this evening there was a loud pop and now no picture and no audio.
Thankfully, also no smoke or flames.
What might this problem be? Will take it to a service department tomorrow but want to go informed
Thanks

When the picture gets dim the lamp is failing and the lamp will pop when fails. Pull the lamp and look at it and you will find the element has blown.

My panasonic pt-50lc14 turns off the power light flashes red and temperature light flashes.

Examine the lamp first and be aware the model 50lc13 and 50lc14 which are almost identical had all sorts of problems----the lc13 was part of a massive recall/exchange that cost Panasonic tens of millions of dollars.

could be lamp or even the ballast which was the real issue involved in the recall.

I have a 6 yr old Panasonic PT 50 LC13 and I need to know how th reset the lamp. i just replaced the bulb and i cannot get the tv to turn in

To reset the lamp follow the steps below.

Press and hold "Volume down(-)" at the front panel and "TV/Video" on the remote control for more thatn 5 secs in power off condition to activate the Service mode map. You can now reset the lamp.

After that check if the symptoms still there. If yes, let me know the status of the led light(Power, Temp, Lamp) and its color to determine where the fault came from.

My 50 inch panasonic lcd projection keeps going to a black screen then after a few seconds the picture comes back. The green light stays on but is flashing during this time. I have replaced the bulb twice...

check to insure that your input signal is clean,(clean picture) most modern TV`s blank the video if it is deemed of poor quality, also if you are using a VCR and are viewing pirate copy tapes the VCR will output a varying video level output signal to deter pirating of movies, using a video stabilizer between your VCR and your video input may solve this problem for you, check with your user manual as to the light flashing condition in the diagnostic section this will indicate the fault you are experiencing good luck

Where is the filter on a panasonic rear projection tv

On the 50" pt-lc13 there are two behind the front center cover. They are foam type filters for the projection engine. Remove front deco panel then, the two screws on the center panel,..you will see them. They are meant to be cleaned with the projection engine out of the unit during professional service..Not easy to get too and they do get clogged.

A brief history: fixya helped me change my bulb (been receiving a "replace bulb" message for awhile until my picture went black). The picture now is snow, not black which seems to me to indicate the bulb...

Since you do have sound but snow for picture is your TV 54J or 54U chassis the PT50DL54J chassis shows 4 tuners also Have you look for Leaky or Bad capacitors if they are puffed up on top they are Bad 2200uf 25v 1000uf 25v Look for bad capacitors on tuner Boards, and I have seen where they are on Power supply board that will affect Picture.

The picture (screen) is fading.

You Need A new bulb, its going to pop any minute, you will literally hear a loud pop like smashing a lightbulb. Order one now online, cause it really sucks when you have to wait a week for a new bulb. There easy to install yourself, very simple. Calling a tv man would be a waste. You can fond a bulb online for around 90 to 150, anything over 150 is a rip off, look somewhere else.

Read replace lamp then afew weeks later heard pop noise and now black screen

Two things in your TV can make that popping sound. One is the bulb of course and the other is a capacitor. Have you pulled out the bulb to inspect it? My guess is that you have broken glass in the cooling fan, which is why there is a grinding sound. Most bulbs tend to contain the glass from getting everywhere as it's only the filament inside that pops creating little diamond looking pieces inside the lens. If a surge was strong enough or if the bulb was poorly manufactured, the whole unit can explode inside spraying glass everywhere.

If the bulb looks fine, the pop must've been a capacitor on one of your circuit boards resulting in no display. Since the TV still powers on, your power supply and it's fuse appear to be fine. Check the bulb first and go from there.
