Surround modes usually process the sound to make it appropriate for the direction from which you'll hear it (ambience, echo, reverb, spatial cues).

Surrounds are not meant to be listened to alone. Does the sound from the surrounds mesh with or enhance the other channels? Perhaps a look in the manual may help, if we knew what electronics we're talking about.

If you are in Pro Logic mode and play a stereo recording/film etc, there will be no rear sound.
You need a Pro Logic recording to produce true rear sound.

Surround speaker is not working.

Make sure your receiver is in surround sound mode on the sound fields for that input. Some receivers have independent sound mode settings. example would be hdmi 1 is set to 2 channel stereo while hdmi 2 is set to PL II movie which is a surround sound setting. Hope this helps.

No sound

check speaker conections. disconnect all the speaker wires and use one speaker that you know that works and connect it to each channel one at a time. most surround sound stereos will not go into surround mode unless all the speakers are connected so make sure stereo is in 2 channel mode to start testing. check all fuses sometimes amp fuse is seperate from power circuit and denon uses relays in 99% of thier units.

Reciever only allows 2 channels(speakers) at a time.

I had this problem too. Finally, after using the MCACC setup and making sure all the speakers worked, I found I had to set the source to FM, TV or whatever from the remote control and set the mode to advanced surround sound using the front panal button on the upper right. Had to fool with them a lot. Good luck.

Kenwood VR6070 speaker/amp problems

unit needs repair. Look at the b speakers. Conect a speaker or two to the B position. If you have no sound than your surrond sound is ok and the unit is bad. Sound comes directly into the b speaker and not threw the surrond system. My 6070 has a cold start up problem. no sound. time to purchase a new one. to costly to repair.
