Cleaning grinding blades

I followed the manual directions for removing the grinder blades. When I took the grinder to the wastebasket to turn it upside down to shake out any remaining coffee grounds, a large spring fell into the basket. For the life of me I cannot figure out where that spring came from. The manual makes no mention of it.

Mazzers have 3 springs in grinder body, each one support for upper burr holder. check for them , if it is not the case than consider that the spring could come with coffee. often we see stones and metal parts geting between burrs.
clean it again and look good for 3 springs , if they are in their place, close the burrs to finest than go back for half of circle and grind coffee.

Hamilton Beach coffee grinder model 80393. Blade is really loose, how to tighten please?

Question edited for clarity.

How about a new grinding cup for $10?

https://hamiltonbeach.com/removable-grinding-chamber-990099602

There seems little support and no parts diagrams that show how the parts fit together. There are a couple of videos that may help as all models work to a theme where the grinding cup is concerned.

My Rancilio Rocky Burr coffee grinder w/doser is not grinding the beans they simply remain in the hopper

It is most likely that something is blocking the pathway to the grinder. As the Rocky is a direct drive grinder there is no gear that could be broken.
Try to remove the beans from the hopper and inspect the pathway, move the beans that might be under the 'disk'. If that is not working you might have to open the grinder;
  • remove all coffee beans
  • unscrew the three screws in the bottom of the hopper
  • remove the hopper
Now you can see the grinder wheel and tell if it is turning normally.
This might be a good opportunity to give the grinder a thorough cleaning.
Do not soak it in water, just a stiff small brush (e.g. a toothbrush) is the best tool. And perhaps accompanied by a vacuum cleaner :)
If you have been using very 'oily' beans for a long time they might have clogged the grinding wheels.

Good luck,
Villi

How do I clean the bean grinder in a seaco royal profesionla machine?

These instructions come directly from the service manual. Notice the mention of a qualified technician. If you do this on your own be careful. If you don't follow the instructions correctly or you break something you've will have no one to blame but yourself.

-Clean the coffee beans container periodically; this operation should be accomplished by a qualified technician! Unplug the machine. Empty the coffee container and unloose the two fastening screws. Now, the container can be removed and cleaned.

-Carefully pull the adjustment lever upwards, previously writing the set grinding degree.

-Turn the adjustment ring counterclockwise, until the blue marks coincide.

-Now, it is possible to remove the grinding ring from the machine, slightly pulling it upwards.

-With the aid of a brush or a narrow vacuum hose, clean both the gear box and the grind ring support. Make sure the position of the grind ring does not shift. To reassemble the coffee grinder, carry out the reverse sequence, making sure the adjustment ring has not been shifted during cleaning. If that is the case, turn it until the blue mark coincide with one of the three notches. Assemble the grind ring support and make sure the blue marks coincide.

-Turn the adjustment ring clockwise, to make the red marks coincide.

-Fit the adjustment lever on the ring, until it coincides with the previously set grinding degree.

I just want to know how to clean it after use - it is a coffee grinder, SmartGrind

How to Clean SmartGrind Blade Coffee Grinder - White

1. Always unplug the unit before cleaning. Wash the lid in warm, soapy water - not in a dishwasher.

Wipe the grinding bowl, base, and other parts with a slightly damp cloth or sponge. Take special care

around the blades; they are sharp! Dry parts thoroughly. Do not immerse grinding bowl, base or plug

in liquid or under running water.

2. Never use harsh detergents or abrasive cleansers or scouring pads to clean any

part.

3. To remove residue or aromas left behind by nuts, grind one tablespoon of baking

soda in the bowl then wipe thoroughly.
4. Use the built-in cord wrap on the underside of the unit to store the cord

My cuisinart cbm-18 does not grind at below a 10 setting?

Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.

I'm guessing the problem is that the grinders blades, or the parts that do the grinding have become somewhat dull, (opposite from Sharp.) and no longer can get to the beans like it used to.

Cleaning the machine properly might improve its performance.

CLEANING/MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Be sure plug has been removed from outlet.

2. Beans can be removed from the hopper by lifting off the lid and pouring excess beans out. Hold down the Manual button to cleanout any remaining beans.

3. The bean hopper, bean hopper lid, grind chamber, and grind chamber lid can be washed by hand with hot, soapy water or placed in the top shelf of a dishwasher. Dry thoroughly.

a. Remove the bean hopper by rotating counter-clockwise bringing the selector past grind setting 18, align the arrows and lift up. Make sure the hopper is empty.

b. Remove grind chamber by pulling toward you.

4. Remove the burr grinder, once the bean hopper has been removed, by grasping the metal handle and lifting up. Use the brush to remove grinds or wash by hand. Replace the burr grinder onto the unit and rotate until the piece is fully inserted. Push handle down and replace hopper.

NOTE: The hopper will not attach to the unit if the grinder has not been fully inserted.

5. Wipe body of grinder with a damp cloth.

6. Any other servicing or maintenance should be performed by an authorized service representative.

What do you do when the grinding blade will not come off for cleaning?

Hi
With the bean hopper on, turn the grinder upside down. Rotate the bean hopper to loosen any grounds that might be holding the burr holder. Now remove the bean hopper and try again to remove the holder. Only the outer burr comes off, this way.

Does not grind beans

This can be caused from a broken by a brken grinder motor or even broken grinder sensor.
However this can be cased by a stuck grinder from grinded coffee to the grinder bledes. So you try from the last posible problem by removing all the coffee beans from the machine and by the use of a vacum cleaner try to **** all the remainings both beans and grinded coffee. If you can remove the top panel then you will have access more direct to the grinder and by the use of painting brush and vacum cleaner you will be able to clean the grinding blades mere intesive. Try to rotate the blade manualy to be sure that they can run after the cleaning.
So now you will be able to add some beans and try the machine again. If the probelm remains then you will need a new motor.
Good luck.

Incanto sirius states grinder blocked. Took apart

I own a Saeco Incanto Deluxe. It employs the ceramic grinder that has worked flawlessly for 3-4 years. One day it stopped and "Grinder Blocked" appeared. I removed the entire grinder unit, cleaned it thoroughly and calibrated the grinder. This did not fix the problem. After many similar attempts, I found the entire grinder assembly (motor, grinder etc.) online for $149.00. Install of the new assembly took me five minutes and it works perfectly. Please note that the ceramic grinding blades (there are two round ones that must be aligned corrrectly) cost $40 a piece (same site where I found the entire assembly for $149). My suggestion--save yourself the agony and replace the assembly if cleaning and calibration fails.

I don't know how to change the grinding blade on my makita angle grinder.

There is a nut that you release from the middle of the grinder wheel, (grinder blade)
This nut is flat and has four holes in it.

You will see you are providing a spanner wrench to remove this nut. The wrenches' actual name is Lock Nut Wrench. It has a U shaped end with two pins sticking out. On on each side of the U shape.

The pins are inserted into the holes in the flat lock nut, located in the middle of the grinding wheel. The wrench is laid flat against the grinding wheel, with the two pins of the wrench going into any two holes of the nut.

At the top of the Makita grinder you will see a Black button. The button is pushed down to keep the grinding wheel from spinning. Holds the grinding wheel in place, as you turn the lock nut loose. When you release the button, a spring inside pushes the button back up out of the way.

As you view the Makita grinder, Release Button towards the Back, grinding wheel towards you, the nut is turned to the LEFT, to loosen. It is a Left threaded nut.

The grinding wheel spins to the Right. Using a left threaded nut insures that the nut will stay tight, due to the direction the grinding wheel spins.
