Bar and Chain oil, available at hardware stores and home centers. I generally use Ace brand but whatever is least expensive works. Bar and chain oils is 30 weight non detergent oil with some additives to help it adhere to the bar and chain.

Use CHAIN oil. Any oil will do but chain oil is thicker and sticky and will stay on the chain much longer. The price is much the same. Stephen.

SOURCE: have cleaned bar grooves and holes, blown air

The oil exiting the case next to the bar should just 'ooze' out depending on how fast the engine is running. Check the area around the oil port looking for an 'O' ring or other formed seal that may be damaged or missing. Make sure the small passage between the large hole (that lines up with the oil port) in the bar and the chain groove is open. It's easy to miss when cleaning. Make sure that the bar snugs up to the port firmly (otherwise, the oil just runs down the case). A check of oil delivery to the chain is to run full throttle for a moment or two--the end of the bar should paint a light line of oil on some paper or cardboard in front of the tip. Hope this helps!

My Poulan Pro chain saw (model # PP4620 AVHD) doesot move B&C oil from the oil reservoir to the chain. How can I repair this?

is the area where you tighten up the chain clean there are a few holes in the bar that allow the oil to drip on to the chain if its been used for a while the holes could be clogged take off the bar and chain and clean with a small flat head screwdriver the groove that the chain rides in there should be a hole that goes all the way through make sure you wipe away any wood chipsthen run it and see if it throws out any oil

Dear Sirs, I don't have a manual to look this

There are two holes in the end of the Bar, the oil comes though them from behind the bar and goes into the channel (oil passages) that goes around the bar, clean the small oil passages in the drive end of the bar that run out to the chain groove on each edge from the large holes.

My chain saw is doing the same thing. I have only used it about 5 hours since owning it, and it worked great last time I used it (year ago). I think maybe my pump is not working. Did you ever get your's working ? I was told to take the bar off and Start the engine and observe whether oil oozes out of the side port. If no oil comes out, then the oil pump, oil line, or oil tank filter may require service.

Chain oil is pumping into area where pipe goes under square rubber bush, but not onto the top reservior so the chain can pick it up. Behind the aluminium plate.

Hello. If you haven't done so already ,remove the bar and chain and make sure the slot in the back aluminum plate lines up with the oil outlet hole if so ok. Use a thin tool (utility knife works) and scrape inside the chain groove of the bar to clean it out.Make sure the oil inlet hole in the bar is clean. If it doesn't work after doing this you may have a cracked oil tank, disconected oil line,or worn out oil pump.

I have a homelite chain saw that the bar oil is not dispenseing

May be oil port on saw clogged. Remove side cover, remove bar and chain. Remove giude plate if equipped. Check to see if small oil hole on saw is open and clean. You can start the saw with side cover removed to see if oil is coming from oil hole or not. If it is coming from oil hole when running the problem is most likely dirty bar .If bar is dirty check to see that groove is clean and the oil hole along the edge of bar is clean also. The hole is at same end of bar that attaches to saw.

Chainsaw Bar Lube Oil Leaking

A new mounting bar would solve this issue. On that mounting bar there is a little piece that allows oil to drop onto the bar when you call for it or if this is a electric bar oil chain saw. Then it tracks when it needs to open.
