My Ec 50 is brand new and when using the skimmer everything works just fine , but when I hook up the vacuum hose the filter will run for about a minute at 10 lbs pressure then drop to nothing (0). My vacuum hose is also new and I was having the same problem on my old fillter which still runs but is 15 years old.

You have air infiltrating the vacuum line somewhere. The hose may have a swivel cuff on one end that must be in the water, not attached to the skimmer. Next, check the gasket on to p of the pump housing. Under vacuum, the gasket may bleed air into the system shutting down the pump flow. Lastly, check the skimmer thoroughly for small cracks. Again, under vacuum it may open and allow air to infiltrate. The only way for a filter to go from 10-0 pressure is if the pump loses prime ie: air infiltration. Hope that helps.. Rob

How do i hook a vaccum up to my model 604 filter pump?

You should take your vacuum hose and plug it into the hole in the bottom of one of the skimmers. Fill the hose with water first or your pump will loose suction. I fill my hose by putting the head of the vacuum in the pool. Take the other end and hold it over a pool's discharge port (where the water comes back to the pool from the pump. When the air bubbles stop, put your hand over the end of the hose and move it to the skimmer and connect it.

That work for you?

WWas working just fine then hooked up vaccum and cleaned pool now the skimmer does not have any suction-- water blows out other side just fine and I have gotten all air out of lines--- any ideas

Depending on how much you vacuumed, your filter may just need to be cleaned. The filter on these units are not very big, so they can get dirty fast. Make sure it is cleaned out. Make sure skimmer basket is not clogged up, and make sure none of the flexible hoses are crimped. Also make sure there isn't anything stuck in the impeller. A stick, twig, or piece of toy, etc, can get stuck and cause low flow. Check for leaks between the suction side of the pump and the pool skimmer. One more think you might want to check is for leaks on the suction side while equipment is off. a leak here will let air into system and effect flow.

I presently have a Hayward EC 60 (yes 60) pool filter and a 1 horse power motor.. It works well but it does not support the new Pool Vac cleaning robot I purchased. It supported my old Pool Vac, but not...

if you buy an adaptor, should be a 1 1/2" dia hole,in the bottom of the skimmer, put it in the skimmer hole, put your vac line on that, turn the valve to it's on full skimmer, it will work,
thats a nice filter, pool guys will sell you anything!
esp at this time of year!
buy the minumum!

How to hook up vacuum to sand filter

hooking up the vacuum assembly is done at the poolside skimmer. there is a vacuum plate that goes over top of the skimmer basket, allowing you to leave the basket in place to catch any larger debris. the plate will have a fitting at the top to attach the vacuum hose. before turning the pump on, be sure to bleed the air out of the vacuum hose so the pump does not run dry.

if this is a new thing for you (like you just bought the house with the pool, or something like that), please post any further questions in the comment section, i realize this can all be sort of overwhelming at first, and often the previous owners don't leave you all the pieces you need!

How do I vaccum the pool? I dont know if I turn the Veriflow to out and then where do I hook in the hose?..Its my girlfriends pool and she just expects me to know. Thanks

Oh then you DO need help. To vacuum you don't need to change the valve setting on the filter, but if there is a valve on the intake selecting main drain/skimmer you can select skimmer only, but I usually only do this after I have the hose primed. . You attach the hose to the skimmer inlet. Usually there will be a round plate attched to the hose that fits into the skimmer ( you may have to remove the basket) If you don't have that round plate on the hose, then you can insert the hose driectly into the bottom of the skimmer. Before you attach the hose, connect it to the skimmer head on the pole. Submerge the head and hose. Allow to settle to bottom. Put all the hose into the pool. Take the other end and hold over the discharge back into the pool to fill the hose with water (prime) until air bubbles stop coming from vacuum head. Then hold your hand over the hose (to keep from loosing prime) and quickly attach to skimmer. You may hear some air, and the pump may stop pumping fully mommentairly untill it is pumping full water again. Now you can select the valve to divert all the flow from the skimmer

How do you hook the vacumn to the skimmer?

First connect hose to vacuum head mounted on handle. Put vaccum in water. Take other end of hose and hold over return outlet filling the hose with water until the vacuum floats up and all the air bubbles stop bubbleing. When it sinks again, hold your had over the hose and take it to the skimmer. If you have an adaptor plate for skimmer have it already on the hose. If you don't have one, then remove basket and quickly remove your hand and put hose down ito pipe in skimmer. You will get some air and once the pump recovers, and starts pupming, then begin vacuuming.

Pump and skimmer instructions on how to

Direction of flow is FROM the skimmer to the pump and back to the jet. Its easy enough to determine which hose is the "jet" hose and which is the suction hose. Put both into the water, or in a bucket and turn on the pump, find the one that is shooting out water, that's the jet hose. On these systems, filter replacement and cleaning is annoyingly frequent if you want it to work even remotely efficient.

Brand new 2009 model 8111 can't get filer to run

There is an air lock, so it seems. Leave filter off, on top of filter is a valve to let air escape. Keep this open until you get a stady stream of water from oulet, then close. Start pump. Not being a smart ****, besure that the water flow is correct. Skimmer to inlet side, return to pool.
