IM TRYING TO CONNECT MY EQ TO MY RECEIVER MY EQ HAS3 PAIRS OF RCAS LINE IN AND OUT TAPE 1 AND TAPE 2 WHICH ONE DO I HOOK IT UP TO ALL I USE THIS RECEIVER FOR IS FOR MUSIC ON MY IPOD.WILL TAKE ALL THE I COULD GET THANKS.

You don't specify the receiver model or type so I'll give you the generic AV/Receiver advice that also applies to stereo receivers. It's probably verkill but the short answer is at the end.

Be advised that the engagement of any device in a Tape Monitor loop will effectively tie the receiver down to stereo-only analog sound reproduction. I'll explain.

The connections themselves are fairly simple but it pays to understand what happens in the loop.

In general, any Line-Level external processor (EQ, dynamic range expander, etc) will go into a Tape Monitor loop on a receiver. A Tape Monitor, when engaged, sends the stereo analog signal Out to the Processor, massages it and returns it to the receiver via the Tape Monitor IN connectors to be passed on to the receiver's internal processes (volume, tone, whatever).

Old school analog stereo-only receivers consistently work this way. Newer digital and audio/video receivers introduce a couple of problems: 1) digital sound processing to simulate a variety of soundfields; 2) multiple output channels, either discrete or digitally-generated.

The latter requires that whatever signal is being processed experiences a maximum of one analog-digital-analog conversion.

EVERYTHING analog coming into the modern digital receiver is automatically converted to a digital signal for internal processing unless you choose a STEREO-only or STEREO-Direct setting. Consequently, no further external analog-digital conversions would be allowed if, say, a Tape Monitor circuit was activated, and a possible feedback loop could otherwise be created in a digital-sourced selection (output to its own input), so the unit is wired to treat the Tape Mon as the first analog step in the process and defeats any pure digital sources.

In a multichannel unit, what would happen to the other channels if you sent ONLY the Front Left & Right out for processing? That logical problem also plays into the decision to defeat digital sources if the Tape Mon is activated. I don't totally agree with the engineers but that's the way it is. Nature of the digital beast.

Okay, back to the hook-up: Receiver Tape- or VCR Out to the External Processor (EQ, whatever) Preamp-, Amp-, Tape- or Rec-In; Receiver Tape- or VCR In from the External Processor (EQ, whatever) Preamp-, Amp-, Tape- or Rec-Out.
If you actually want to use an analog recording deck you could place it within the typical Equalizer's own Tape Monitor loop(s). Many have two to facilitate equalized dubbing between decks.

Hi James Kohler, to connect the EQ SH-8029 to the Kenwood KR-710, you must have two cables from 2 RCA to 2 RCA
One connects it to the EQ Line In (Line In) and on the other hand you connect it to the REC output of Tape1 in the Kenwood, the other cable goes from the Line Out of the EQ to the entrance Tape1 PLAY at Kenwood
In order to hear the equalized sound, you must select the Source, example; Radio CD, Phono and you must enable Tape 1
If you had used Tape 1 connections, you can use Tape 2 and if you have used both of Tape, you can do what you indicated first and what was in Tape 1 connect it to the Tape entrance, which brings the EQ

Hola James Kohler, para conectar el EQ SH-8029 al Kenwood KR-710, deberas contar con dos cables de 2 RCA a 2 RCA
Uno lo coenctas en la Entrada de Linea del EQ(Line In) y por el otro lado lo conectas a la salida de REC de Tape1 en el Kenwood, el otro cable va desde la salida de Linea (Line Out) del EQ hasta la entrada PLAY de Tape1 en el Kenwood
Para poder escuchar el sonido ecualizado, deberas seleccionar la Fuente, ejemplo ; Radio CD, Phono y debes habilitar Tape 1
Si tubieras utilizadas las conexiones de Tape 1, puedes usar Tape 2 y si tienes utilizadas las dos de Tape, puedes hacer lo que te indique primero y lo que estaba en Tape 1 lo conectas en la entrada de Tape, que trae el EQ

HOW TO HOOK UP A KENWOOD GE-34 GRAPHIC EQ. THE EQ HAS LINE IN AND OUT RCA JACKS AND TAPE PLAY AND RECORD RCA JACKS.MY RECEIVER IS ONKYO HT-R530. IT HAS TAPE IN AND OUT RCA JACKS

The EQ is made to go between two devices such as a preamplifier then to the EQ then to your receiver or TV to EQ then to your receiver, depending on what you are trying to do. This is how you hook it up. TV line out goes to EQ line in. EQ line out goes to receiver line in. The receiver is then selected to use line in by a push button on your receiver or by other means that says line in to select that as your source from the front receiver panel. The red rca line cable is for the right side and the white is your left side of the audio. your receiver now can hook to the speakers and you have control of the volume up and down from your receiver. Now if you are going to go from your receiver to a high powered amplifier then the line out on your receiver would go to the line in on the EQ and the line out on the EQ would go to the amplifier line in. The amplifier would have to be able to control the volume up and down as line in and line out volumes are fixed. Record output jack is for recording where the jack goes to a recording device line input. The play is the recorder line out that plugs into that jack. Ignore those two jacks for your purpose.

I have a velodyne sub woofer needs amp power source I have a kenwood eq and a sony reciever trying to figure out how to hook it all up right

So, you don't have a powered Velodyne sub (with a built in amp?)

Without model numbers - I"ll guess that there are speaker in and out connections on the back of the sub.

You simply connect the left and right speaker wires from the receivers to the subwoofers input speaker wire connections.

Then connect your main speakers from the sub's Out (or "speaker"} connections so that the sub is in line with the speaker path.

Use the sub's crossover settings on the back till you hca a seamless blend of the sub to the speakers where it is hard to tell you have a sub other than you your music now has deeper bass.

Why do you need the Kenwood EQ? This is not a necessary piece as nobody really knows how to use it properly and it realy complicates how you use your system. Flashing lights look cool though, right?

If you really must complicate the operation of your system then connect the Tape output of your receiver to the tape input of the Kenwood EQ, Then connect the Tape output of the Kenwood EQ to the Tape input of your receiver - assuming your receiver even has tape ins and outs.

You can engage the Kenwood EQ by inserting it into the audio path when you select the appropriate Tape input as the source on your receiver.

2 stereo rca cables tape out to line in on eq, line out from eq to tape in on receiver. press tape monitor button to use eq, turn off tape monitor for direct. some receivers also have a dedicated I/o for eq, you just need to remove the jumpers and install in that loop (out to in on eq out from eq to in on rcvr}

I have a Pioneer VSX-D308 reciever and I have a EQ. How do I hook it up to this reciever?

I only know of one way to do this and here it is:

1. Plug your tape deck's output (cassette or R2R) into the EQ's "Line In".
2. Plug the EQ's "Line Out" into the Receiver's "Tape 1 Input".
3. Now plug the Receivers "Tape 1 Output" into the Tape Player's "Line In".
4. You have now made an "FX loop" for the Tape Deck. Now you just have to put the Tape Deck on "Tape Monitor".....put the Receiver on "FM"..... and turn on your favorite FM station and you will hear the FM Receiver THROUGH the tape deck's "Monitor Send" AND the EQ.............set EQ to taste....... and BINGO.......DONE!

Im trying to connect a bsr xr eq to my avr687 denon receiver

If you want the EQ to affect the iPod music only, you can hook up the iPod output to the EQ input, then the EQ output to your receiver's AUX input (or DAT input, or whatever you're using to listen to iPod music.

If you want the option of using EQ for other signals as well, then you hook up the EQ to the TAPE inputs/outputs (TAPE OUT goes to EQ input, and EQ output goes to TAPE IN)

If you hook it up this way, then you have to select MONITOR or TAPE MON to get the equalized signal.

This might work fish76, The EQ needs a in & out source to operate correctly? If you have audio device connected to an aux input disconnect that & connect the EQ to that audio device & then plug the EQ to the Sony receiver AUX input. The tape monitor is the most important source for hooking up an EQ device, so you are very limited on a total receiver or amp tonal connection source. The bottom line is you can only use the EQ if another audio source to plug into it & the EQ plugs to your pre-amp input on the back of your rec or amp

Sherwood 460 equalizer hook up

Connect the EQ to the Sherwood as if it were a tape deck: EQ's outs connect to receiver's tape ins (play) and EQ's ins connect to receiver's tape outs (record).
Then you hook the tape deck up to the tape ins and outs on the EQ: Tape deck outs connect to EQ's tape ins (play) and tape deck ins connect to EQ's tape outs (record).
This will put the EQ in your receiver's tape loop.
The CD player should be connected to the receiver though the CD in's and out's (or if your Sherwood doesn't have a CD in/out, then use AUX or TAPE2).
To hear the EQed signal with all receiver sources (like the CD player) you'll need to engage the 'Tape Monitor' button or switch which will route the tape loop to the speakers.
