Lowrance lcx-111c hd, single beam transducer

Why does sonar not read all the time only works when it wants to not all the time like it should for the price of the unit it should read depth non stop? My single beam transducer is glue in the hull of the boat. You know how a transducer makes a ticking noise it shouldn't stop ticking, but mind does why is that. When it quits ticking the depth quits reading depth. The screen like pauses and the depth reading flashes. How do I fix this problem?
Nether question to update my chip of lake maps what do have to do?

SOURCE: Lowrance LCX 28c HD with Navionics HotMaps Premium SD chip. Chip worked fine last fall but when I went to use yesterday the Lowrance would not read the chip.

I had the same problem with my handheld Lowrance Hunt C. After installing the card and locking it in place, I had to slide the card "out" toward the locking mechanism. It barely moves, but worked after that. Whenever I load the card, I now slide it out or wiggle it and it works every time.

SOURCE: lowrance x135 not functioning properly

Had the same issue with another brand. Turned out the transducer cable was picking up noise from other cables (power, trolling mtr. etc). Try moving the transducer cable away from any other cables. I put the cable in a 1/4 " plastic housing up to the point where it was above deck and it stopped all the strange stuff. Not sure about the temp issue??

SOURCE: My Lowrance X-51 is not reading the depth sitting

Yes quite possibly... But a few things to try/check first before you go out and get a new transducer...

1. Ensure the transducer is fully submersed below the waterline when floating and when on the plane... try lowering it more if you can.
2. Check the surface of the transducer itself (the underside) pointing down... If there are any minor scratches or scuffs, this can effect its function or performance. Minor scratches or marks can be sanded out with fine wet/dry sandpaper (at least 400 or 800 grit).
3. Isolate any electrical wires running near or next to the transducer cable. Also check connection of cable at head unit, and that the pins etc are clean, free of corrosion and making good contact.
4. Take your head unit to your Lowrance dealer and they may have a transducer there to use to diagnose whether it is indeed the trasnducer or a problem with the head unit.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Can I use my existing transducer(1000 watt tilted

As long as the connection is the same.....maybe. The difference will be the angle of beam from boat to bottom. May not cover the same area...or you could loose zoom etc. something will be different.

How much torque on the transducer mounting bolt?

I install these and other Lowrance systems.
For me there is no specific amount of tourque, it's primarily your best judgment.
You want the bolt tight enough so that the transducer doesn't pivot while on plane but if it were to collide with something it would pivot up out of the way.

Lowrance LCX-27C has power but only opens to the splash screen then powers down

The LCX-27C will draw up to 1.5 amps when powering up, if that amount of current is now available, it will power down. Double check your power connections. The +12vdc supply must be able to also supply enough current. Once you get it to stay on you can temporarily shut off the transducer by going into full mapping mode, or switch it to sonar simulation and the current draw will drop considerably. When you are ready for the permanent installation run solid connections directly to the battery and be sure to use the inline fuse for protection.

Sonar only reading the surface

First, ensure that the transducer face is pointing down when the boat is level in flat water. You may want to do this step like a tv antenna, adjusting the angle of the transducer while watching the screen.
If that doesn't work, then try moving the transducer further into the water and repeat step one.
Sonar systems are (largely) directional, and will work best when parallel with the seabed (or lake bed etc)

Transducer is mounted on a plastic bracket to trolling motor. when trolling motor is turned on, black vertical lines appear on my screen. lowrance x107 cdf

Are you utilizing another unit in your dash? If so, sometimes when both units are on and in sonar mode, their frequencies will intefere with each other causing the vertical lines. I would suggest turning your dash unit off or lowering it's Hertz rate from 200Hz down to 50Hz.

Funny story...I saw this same issue on my boat years ago. I had an X102C up fron and an LCX-19c in the dash. I acutally thought it was some sort of man-made structure and spent time fishing it...DOH!
