Hitachi Ultravision will not change channels

I have my Hitachi setup to Direct TV, and I just switched to a standard Antenna temporarily and was able to perform the channel scan. But when it was complete I was unable to change the cannel. It is stuck on 0.
When I set it all up I programmed the Direct TV remote to control my TV. Since then I have lost my remote. Is there a reason why my TV will not change channels?

Tuner may be fubar is the only logical explanation. Use external one. Repair not cost effective

SOURCE: Can't change channels

I had exactly the same problem. I finally found the power button on the underside of the TV. It is well hidden and to find it, you need to run your fingers underneath the panel. Turn it off for a minute or so and turn it back on and then turn on the switch on the panel on the upper right side where the channel and volume buttons are. It works.

SOURCE: Hitatchi 42HDF52 only receives channel 5 and 6 on analog RF input

If you have tried autoprogramming and have found nothing it may be a bad tuner. Is your VCR is hooked up via coax or into a video input? If it is hooked up via video and is working but the coax connection direct isnt it will be a bad TV tuner. Easiest cheapest fix is to use you VCR to change channels or get a Digital Cable Terminal from you cable provider and hook it into video or compnent.

SOURCE: I am running a Sky + HD box through my television

Hi, without a manual to hand, i don't know, but my Panasonic had the same problem, but I found somewhere in the settings, I could change it, it has something to do with AV and Digital TV and hdmi setup, give it a check.

I hope this helps to some degree, but give us a shout if you require more help.

Tv code of hitachi for universal remote

Four Digit Universal Remote Code for Hitachi are:-

0088 0059 0142 0060 0072 0004 0009 0091 0001 0012 0061 0137 0139 0141 0179 0227

Three Digit universal remote code for Hitachi are:-

001/ 004/ 009/ 013/ 059/ 061/ 079/ 088/ 091/ 137/ 139/ 140/ 141/ 142/ 143/ 144/ 145/ 146/ 179/ 210

Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.
Code Search If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.
  1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
  4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.

Hitachi ultravision model number 42hds69 cable problem.

Usually you need a decoder to receive "Cable" With your "Cable" usually you connect the Cable antenna, to the Cable "Box" form the "Box" to the Audio Visual EXTERNAL inputs, in the back of the TV. Now IF your TV can receive the "Cable" directly, then you would have to connect the Antenna, into the rear of the TV, now you would go to the "Tuning" section, and, the TV, would automatically "Search" for any available channels. They would then, be displayed at the end of the scan. Please find a user manual below, this will help you tune in, IF you can. If you cannot, you will have to get a cab;e "Box" and a remote. Hookup to the TV, from the "Box" to the TV, via, Audio and Video cables. You use the "Box's" remote to change channels and volume. You first must set the TV's Volume, & picture setting, the TV, is basically just used as a "Monitor" for the "Box". Hope this helps..

Is my Hitachi 61uwx10b ultravision hd ready digital tv ready when they switch over to digital vrodacasting or will i need a converter box,

This TV will need a converter box. It was made in the days before the digital tuner was required on big TV sets.

Just remember the converter is only needed if you get off-the-air reception with an antenna for local channels. If you have cable or satellite and get your local channels that way, you don't have to do anything. The change to digital will not affect you.

If you are now using rabbit ears or an old worn-out outside antenna, you might think about upgrading your antenna when you get a converter box. Signal strength is very important with the new digital broadcasting. Too weak a signal means no picture at all or one that freezes up or turns blocky. The antenna that worked for analog may not be adequate for digital.

Connecting Hitachi VCR to my Direct TV.

Connect your Direct TV to the Ant. In connection on your VCR. When you want to watch TV, just tune the TV to channel 3 (or whatever channel the Receiver is set for). When you wish to record, set your VCR to that same channel and set your TV to the channel that your VCR outputs to. For simplicity sake, I would suggest setting both systems to channel 3 and just watching your program through the VCR. If you are still using an "off air" antenna, then connect that antenna to the ANT. IN connection on your Direct TV receiver and when you turn off the dish, it will pass the signal through just like the VCR would.

Need help locating a box to make my TV receive true HDTV

You Dont need one your set is HD. So when the switch happens you are good to go. The only TVs that are going to need converter boxes is those who do not have HD or only have antenna.
