The functions of the Captioning 1,2,3 or Text 1,2,3 is still on.Go into the tv menu turn off all the Captioning like 1,2,3 to off and Text 1,2,3 to off. Will not have anymore black box flash on the middle of the tv screen.
It is a Text or Description box that operates like Closed Captions. Cycle through the options by pressing the Caption button on the remote or go to the Caption menu and turn it off.
Hi,you will need a soldering iron and a voltage needle so you can test the Ic components on the main board. you will need to test the transistors as well. once you find the bad parts, you will have to order them and remove the bad parts and replace them with the ordered parts by using the iron and solder. this issue will be located on the input side of the main board. you should notice it by the discolorations on the board. You can take off the back of the tv. Look for the red wire at the top of the tube. Follow it down to the part that it goes into. On that part (transformer) there are 2 controlls. The one marked SCREEN, is the one you can turn up and watch the screen at the same time. If the tv shuts off, put that control back to the original position. If it brings up the brightness, then it is fixed. If not, take to a repair shop.
i had the same problem with my rca truflat.. i read from a posting of a similar problem with a different tv brand to switch your closed caption options 'off' or set it to a 'cc' option instead of the 't' options.. (this was done through the on-screen menu..) i gave it a try and it worked for my tv.. hope it works for you..
