Popping sound and nothing works

You could have a power issue, or any number of issues with some of your chip boards. As the inside of TV's store a lethal amount of electricity I would strongly advise you get the tv checked by an RCA repairman. It may end up costing you more money to fix the issue than repair it. Ask the tech to give you an estimate before any repairs take place.

RCA Tru Flat 20" TV/DVD Combo Remote and manual

Hi
Check its speaker first. If it is Ok, check whether the volume is set to zero, or mute function is ON. If all of the above is OK, the audio output IC of your tV is faulty. You ahve to replace it with same type and number. Audio IC can be located by following the speaker wire. One end of that wire will go to oudio output section. There will be an IC; usually screwed on to a metal heatsink. Check its solder terminals first, for any loose soldernng. It is best to resolder all the solder terminals of that IC, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge in between adjecent solder points. If this resoldering also does not help you, check the voltage at the pins of that IC. The maximum voltage will be between 25 and 24VDC. If the voltage also is there, and still there is no sound, replace the IC with same type and number, provided the speaker is good. OK.

Somehow the parental lock was

Hello

Most RCA TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset is different depending on the model. Try each number until you find the one that works for you.

1. Hold down the MENU button on the remote and VOLUME DOWN button on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked

2. Hold down the 0 (zero) button on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN button on the TV itself at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked

3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. 4- Hold down GO BACK button on the remote and MENU button on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.

4. Hold down EJECT button on the front of the TV set and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

Any one amoung the above process will unlock your GE TV. After unlock, you have to do the Vchip-Set. OK

The RCA tv's have the highest breakdown problems in the industry and usually take a slew of parts in the process when they finally quit. Now if you are very lucky you may have bad connections on the main board, but with history these sets carry I'am inclined to run it until it fails completely and buy a new tv.

houseofesthe

With modern electronics with they are turning off and on by theirselves this is a sign that you have a short to the TV some where. The reason for this is there is a contact switch and if the mainboard builds up a charge it will bridge the switch and activate it.

The common thing to check is the connection for the fuse. Alot of times you do not have a good connection and there is a arc which is causing the charge to build up.

Another thing to check is your other devices that are connected to the TV. They may have a ground fault that is grounding to the TV. I would disconnect all your other devices to see if the problem goes away. If it does the problem is not with the TV.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

Hi, there must be something wrong in the power supply circuit, usually because of bad or off value components, if the TV actually gets a picture and cutts off, the power supply could be the circuit to suspect, if the tv does not give a picture, it only does the click and the power light turns on but nothing else happens, there could be something else wrong besides the power supply circuit.
