I cannot print a document from the computer

I have had this printer for almost a year, and cannot get it to print a document from my computer. It will copy, but not print on command. I find the control panel almost impossible to figure out!

Try a new data cable. Check that the USB port is working - try a new port and check if a known-working device is seen by the computer. If you use a print server or a hub, try a direct connection to the computer.
Do you have the latest driver for your device? Check the Dell web site.

Is the print queue holding any documents? What does the Devices and Printers Control panel say about the printer status? If the printer is listed as ready but has jobs in the queue, you may want to stop and restart the spooler. In all versions of Windows since Win95 at least, you can do this in the command prompt (Run as Administrator in Vista or Win7). Type "net stop spooler" <hit enter> without the quotes; at the next prompt, type "net start spooler" <hit enter> again without the quotes. Restart the computer.

I hope these ideas help.

My Printer not print given blank pages

You'll need to reboot your computer. You'll also need to turn off your printer (on/off switch or unplug the power cable).

Then plug everything back in and bring your computer back up. Most of the time this will solve the problem.

If the printer won't print just one Word document, then the document got corrupted just a tiny bit. Rebooting the computer won't solve that problem. However, if you can get Word to say that it 'has a problem and needs to close' (while the bad document is open), then it will recover and repair the document. Reopen Word, and you will see a list of recovered documents. Click on your problem document and open it. The recovered document should be able to print. Save that recovered document as a copy of the original one and print it.

I've had both problems, and these solutions worked for me.

What button to press to copy a document ?

If you are putting a document into the printer and want to make a copy of it, press the key that says "copy" on the printers keyboard. Then choose the number of copies you want to make and press the "ok" or "enter" key on the keyboard of the printer.

If the document you wish to make a copy of is located in your computer and you dont have a copy of it to place in your printer - then you need to print the document. Not copy the document. Copy means make another one. You can't copy something that you dont have in your hands. Understand? To print a document that you dont have in your hands, find it on your computer. When you find the document you want to print on the computer, click on "file" in the upper left side corner of your computer screen and slide down to "print" and click on it. Then click on "ok" on the next screen to start printing your document.

If there is no "file" command in the upper left corner of your computer screen when you have the document that you want to print open on the computer - try right clicking with the button on the right side of your mouse in the center of the document and find the "print" command on the drop down list and click on it. Then click on "ok" on the next screen and this will start the printing of your document.

Hope this helps? Good luck!

HP Photosmart. I have a document open in Word

o.k. I believe I can help you with this.

The mysterious printing document huh? many people run into this problem some point in the printing experiences.

This is what I think may be your problem.

You have backed up print jobs in your print cue. Things that you or someone using your computer told your computer to print but never printed out .. maybe your printer was out of paper? maybe you turned off your computer or it lost power before a print job was complete?

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO.

Look to the right bottom corner of your computer monitor. This is your system try. look of the printer icon. Click on it. now
this should pull open a printer task menu.

right click anywhere in the box and cancel all print jobs.

Now resume trying to print your document. It should print out for you.

If you still have problems turn off your printer and computer.

turn back on your printer and then power back on your computer and try printing again. This last step is just a way of refreshing everything in case changes did not take place.

good luck if this was of assistance pleas take the time to leave a kind testimonial. :)

How to print a regular document from Microsoft Word, Excel.

Instead of pressing the start button to print, you need to press the small ON/OFF button. The start button works to copy/scan. But to print, you will need to turn the printer on first. Once the printer is on, the computer should recognize it fine and allow you to print from your applications.

Printer will not print

First of all basics:
1. Make sure printer is switched on and connected to computer.
2. Go to Control Panel and then Printers and Faxes. Double click the icon for your printer. When box appears click on Printer then make sure that "Use printer offline" is not checked. If it is, left click to uncheck this option.
3. If there is a queue of documents waiting to be printed then again click on Printer and click on Cancel all documents. This should clear the backlog. Restart the computer and follow step 3 again to make sure the print queue is empty before attempting to print anything.

Printer was working one minute, stopped printing the next.

Found this info somewhere else.
One other note: After just less than one year of moderate use, the machine completely stopped printing; all output was blank pieces of paper, both printing and copying. Canon technical support was very good. The printer has a three-year warrantly, and within the first year free on-site repair is available. The day after I called Canon (and immediately got a professional, articulate support rep), a friendly repairman came to our office and replaced the laser shutter. The machine is now working well again...and hopefully will for the rest of its life.

I know of another machine which has this fault that is why I'm looking on the internet for an answer. Hope that helps you out
