Where do i find the security key

You can find the Wi-Fi password either at the bottom cover of your router typed at a label, or at the configuration page for the router at the section wi-fi (or wlan) - security. In order to access the configuration page of the router you need a computer already connected at the router and the Internet Explorer (or Mozilla).

In any case you need further help or clarification, just post me a reply.
Thanks

I have a wifi at home, im using now a wifi phone, it displays, netgear found, when i search for wlan it says wlan network netgear but when i wnt to connect to the web it says wlan unable to connect wlan...

try unplugging your router for 1 minute, plug it back in and wait for it to properly boot, make sure you do not have a secured wireless network (WEP,WPA, ect...)
or make sure that the phone is able to accept the connection with a security key. If not you might have to disable your security in order to use the phone.

Cant connect to internet on ps3

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya.

If you want to connect your PS3 to the internet you need to know the configuration or settings of your router.

To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.0.1, the Default username is admin and the password is blank. Go to the Wireless Settings you'll find your SSID or Network Name under Wireless Network Settings and under Security Mode you'll find the Network Key or Passphrase. You can alsoThen Personalize you Network Key or Passphraseso that you can easily remember it. Take note of the SSID and the Network Key and the Security Mode (WEP,WPA or WPA2).

Steps on Connecting PS3

1. Power-cycle ALL network equipment. Turn off (unplug) ALL of your network equipment, including any Wireless Access Points, Routers, Voice Over IP (VOIP) Modems, and Broadband Modems for two (2) full minutes.

2. Confirm that your internet connection is enabled. in the home menu, go to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection and select Enabled.

3. Scroll down to Internet Connection Settings and When prompted, "Do you want to continue?" select Yes. On the next screen, select Wireless as your connection method. Pick "Scan"

4. From the list, pick your SSID.

5.On the next screen, press right on the directional pad to continue

6. Pick your WLAN Security Setting (either WEP or WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK). If none, pick None (and skip the next step).

7. If you selected a Security Setting, enter your Security Key or Network Key with the keyboard. Press the Start button to exit the onscreen keyboard. Press right on the directional pad to proceed to the next screen.

8. The system will check your network configuration settings and display the information. Save the Settings.

9. Test the connection on the next screen.

10. When the test is complete (usually less than a minute), it will display the results ("Succeeded" or "Failed"). If you have successfully connected to your network, Congratulations, you have completed the network setup process.

Did this connection used to work but has suddenly stopped? "Power cycle" your router by unplugging it from the power outlet. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then plug in the router. Try to connect the Ps3 and test for proper response.

The Wii may have detected and set itself to the wrong security type during the initial connection set up. Try creating a new connection file and going through the connection process again but be sure that when the Wii asks for a security code, the type shown on screen (WEP or WPA) is what your router is set to.

Change your router's channel setting to 1 or 11. By default, most routers broadcast on channel 6, which overlaps with other channels and may be weaker.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Cant connect wirelessly as i cant locate AOSS button

AOSS is what you would see on some high end routers. if your router doesn't support this method or have this button you can't set up your ps3 using it.

The PS3 does not have an AOSS button. AOSS (AirStation OneTouch Secure System) is used for wireless setup of devices for your network. Your router will have a button on it for this. If it does not then it more than likely does not have the ability to set devices up in this manner.

1)To use this set up for the PS3 go to Settings>Network Settings> Internet Connection Setting> (Method) Custom> (Select Connection Method) Wireless- (WLAN2_bing.gif Setting) Auto - AOSS. At this point the PS3 will tell you to push the button on the router and that you have two minutes or else the attempt to connect will stop.

Again this only works if your router has this button. and it is not found on your ps3

so you'll need to set it up differently. if your home is set up with wireless router and your computers are connected online wirelessly read along....

JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO HAVE A WIRELESS HOME NETWORK... it definitely wont work if you don't have a wireless setup and u are trying to connect wirelessly. people overlook this no brainer.

1) go to Settings
2) Network Settings
3) Internet Connection Setting. confirm on "O.K."
4) easy *it may or may not give you a message reading "checking network configuration"
5) wireless

from this point on you need to know few things about your network.....

6) scan -- once scanned it'll give you other wirelss access point for you home network and some other near your home along with few information such as SSID (which is what you set your network to be -- i.e. "the jones" or "linksys" or "summer home" or "my connection" etc etc) SECURITY (this is the password you set up your network with) SIGNAL STRENGHT (usually your network will be the strongest among your neighbors since you are closer to your router)
7) highlight your network and press x . (you should know what it is) selecting on the other network will probably not do you any good since it'll probably be all locked with password and such and so should yours be.
8) SSID which means service set identifier basically mean the name of your network. if your home network is set up with security and password your home network will not show up under SSID (this is one of the things you need to know about your home network)
9) on WLAN SECURITY SETTING page (this is another thing you should know about your home network or ask the person who set it up) -- most people i deal with have a WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK security password yours may be different so choose the one that you used.
10) WPA KEY - which basically means password. input the password you used to set up your home network (this is another thing you should know about your home network or ask the person who set it up)
**it'll give you "checking network configuration"
11) if you input all the correct info you should get the "setting list" screen
12) press "X" to save the setting
13) do the connection test and if all things were entered correctly you should have success.

all this seems complicated just reading but if you follow it step by step its easy. you just need to know the name of your home network, the home network security setting, and the password of your home network.

I forgot the password of my dwl-900ap+ and can not connect additional pc to the wlan. Help

You can secure your wireless network wit WEP or WAP code.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Ps3 error code 80711008 and wpa

OK for your WPA you can check the security key by accessing the router http://192.168.1.1 .. password is by default "admin" and username is blank...go to the "wireless" tab and check the ssid...under "wireless security" check the security key...if you have "wep" check the numbers in "key 1"....
now make sure that you connect to your own ssid and type the correct key...
and you are right , you need wlan to connect to the internet wirelessly...however , first make sure that you have internet working through the router..if not you will have to configure the router and for that you a computer connected to the router...

As for your IP address simple use this site http://www.ip-adress.com/ should be everything you need

Use this Tip as check list for your connection.
Then:
  1. connect your PC to router using a LAN cable and be sure you can browse
  2. connect to you router config page as admin and disable your security on Wlan, create a Unique SSID name for your WLAN.
  3. stay connected with Lan Cable and check if you see the just created WLAN (= unique SSID)
  4. Connect to Wlan using same parameters (no security)
  5. as soon you are sure connection established (browse Net) disconnect LAN cable to check reliability.
  6. reconnect Lan cable and reinstall security protection: WPA + PSK, TKIP passphrase, NO broadcast. and match router settings with PC settings.

Can not connect to internet using wireless

Did you input the WEP key? I will assume you are using Windows XP. So go to control panel, network connections and then go to the wireless connection and then select view wireless connections double click on the one with the highest strength, which should be your 2wire. When it asks for the network security key type in the numbers that are located on the sticker on the bottom of your router between the [########] brackets.
