Mine will not rotate...I just bought it. I am pulling the tone arm to the right and hearing the click, but it is not activating the turntable. It just doesn't move. What do I do?

The tone arm may have been forced out of spec to play an entire LP, or the auto cutout function of the player appears to be operating.
If out of adjustment(someone has forced it), the problem can be resolved by loosening the screw that locks the tonearm to its turret, and adjusting the end travel against the distance to the end of the LP you mentioned it wont play. Then of course tighten the locking screw again

Another common problem, is where dried grease between the two small metal plates fixed to mechanism that engage against the center spindle to activate the autostop mechanism. You will need to remove the platter in most cases to get access to this autostop mech to clean away the dried grease and or adjust it.

Good Luck with your listening. Long Live Vinyl :)

Graeme

The tone-arm on my turntable automatically stops too early. Is there any way to fix this?

Yes. you need to set the travel on your arm. I don't know your specific model but they are all the same concept. On the back by the pivot point there should be a small screw that you can adjust the travel before it returns.

My turntable a Crosley CR49 is about 14 years old. It plays just fine, but have to manually reset, clicking the tone arm after every record I play, either 45s or 33 1/3. How Can I fix this?

You will need to get to the underside of the turntable. There you should find that the arm when it gets to the centre of the record it will push on a switch. This switch might be out of position or just get stuck by grease or dirt. Correcting it should solve the problem.

HELP: Stopped spinning

It's likely the belt has slipped of and probably needs replacing. You can do this yourself. It will be found under the turntable matt. The trick though is fitting it back on. But you might find the instructions on-line (enter the model number into google search). Some people have even put YouTube video's on how to replace the belt on popular turntables.

Why does my crosley turntable not turn when I put the needle down on the record

If you manually put the needle on the record, you still have to push the power on button. If you are using the auto on and the turn table isn't turning, either the band from motor to turn table broke (or came off) or the motor for turn table stopped working. All this is as long as there is power to the unit.

Arm stuck in middle of turntable won't move forward or return to rest

if the arm is automated and someone forced it to move, it could be that a gear is jammed. Open the unit to access the mechanical mechanisms and look for any stuck gears or pieces, turn on the unit and see that the motor is attempting to respond.

Jensen JTA 450 turntable skips?

Try moving the arm up to the end of the vinyl, if it does go till the end of the vinyl then try adjusting your counter weights, a penny will do, if it doesn't go till the end of your vinyl then there's a mechanical problem check any obstruction at the botton of your arm.

Tone arm retracts before recording is complete (CR-245)

actual old units (not sure about modern nostalgics) sometimes had a lever that said 7 or 12 inches for 45's or 33's this would tell the mechanism when to set down the arm. If your unit does not have something like this then it sounds like an internal failure that would require it being opened by a tech or sent in for warranty repair.

Tone Arm skips past first song

Hello, A. Do not try to close the case when there is a record inside!! The fact that the turntable cannot do this is not a design flaw--you'll be hard pressed to find a portable turntable that can close with a record inside because if you were to pick up the player with one inside, it could easily slip off of the spindle and scratch against the sides of the player.
B. Are you using the cueing lever to lift the tone arm before you place it on the record? Read the instructions to see where the cuing lever is (it's a little switch on the right side of the tone arm). When you lift it, the tone arm will lift up and allow you to position it wherever you want on a record, then you depress the lever to make the tone arm touch the record and being playing.
I hope that helps!
