CD drawer does not open

Look for the small manual eject hole (not the head phone jack) located on the front of the drive. Unwind a paper clip and place one end of the paper clip into the hole to eject the CD-ROM tray. You may need to apply some pressure to activate the manual tray ejection

My turntable doesn't work at all...

One advantage of living in a large metropolitan area is the variety of stuff to buy. You might try a radio, or TV repair store, and if they have no belt assortment, ask them who does. Another option is a car parts or a plumbing store, where there are "O" ring assortments. Perhaps a hardware store ( such as Lowe's, Home Depot, or Menard"s will have some belt or "O" ring assortments. God bless your efforts.

Won't record record to CD-RW

First make sure your cdrw disc is blank. If it is blank try another good known cdrw brand disc and burn it in 12x speed for a good burn.

If it still fail check the software side of your cd rewriter first and lastly the cd rewriter unit.

Arm stuck in middle of turntable won't move forward or return to rest

if the arm is automated and someone forced it to move, it could be that a gear is jammed. Open the unit to access the mechanical mechanisms and look for any stuck gears or pieces, turn on the unit and see that the motor is attempting to respond.

Why does the radio volume go up without turning it up?

HelloIt is an electronic component mistake in the circuit board. Even though the volume is controlled by a knob, it actually works in cnjuction with and electronci circuit, usually controlled by an IC in some sets or with a transistor with others. You have to find out the faulty component on board. It is really a skilled work. Eventhough the faulty component won't cost more, loacating it is a skilled job indeed. You must have thorough knoledge in electronics, and the schematic diagram of your set. You must have knoledge to follow the schematic diagram too. You may be pretty handy, but this is not enough find out the faulty component. Must be an expert and must have succician expereince in repairing electronic circuits. OK.

CD drawer will not open

HelloThere is a loading belt that fastened with a loading motor pulley, which gets the CD tray in and out. If this belt or the loading motro has trouble, the CD tray wont cole out, or load in properly. You have to check and find out which part is faulty. In normal cases, replacing the loading belt will rectify this problem. OK.

How to record a cassette tape to a cd

Your question is posted under a "CD Shelf System" heading. If you really have one of these, the answer is "you can't". The CD player is a player only, not a recorder.

On the other hand, if what you're asking is how to transfer cassette tapes to CD using a computer, there are a couple of ways. One is to connect a cassette player (boom box, component system cassette deck, etc.) to the line-in jack of your computer's sound card. Download and install Audacity, which is free software for recording and editing sound. Then you can record the sound from your cassettes as you play them into the computer.

Another option, If you want to be fancy and spend a little money, is to buy a USB cassette deck. It automatically converts the cassette audio to digital and sends it to your computer over a USB cable. Recording software is supplied (sometimes the Audacity program mentioned before). Several companies make them. Here's one from a company called ION that some friends of mine have, and it seems to work well for them. They've been converting a lot of tapes of family members, and Audacity has been good for cleaning up tape hiss and enhancing the sound.

Either way, once you have the sound in your computer and processed to your liking, you just need to burn it to a CD using whatever burning software you have. (I use CDBurnerXP. It's free, easy to use, and does everything needed for normal CD and DVD burning.)
