If you haven't already done so, I would suggest you connect to Garmin.com, register your device, and download/install the WebUpdater.

Then connect your unit to your computer using the USB cable that was included. This will start your unit in a very different mode (it will appear as a storage device to your computer), which WebUpdater will recognize. WebUpdater will check the current release level of your unit's software and let you update it to the latest version. The update process may well cure the problem when next you start the unit in GPS mode.

Good luck.

The audio works fine but the screen is incomplete and is frozen

Hello,

Try performing a soft reset or a hard reset to the unit.
The soft reset is done by holding down the power button for at least 10 seconds and allowing the unit to power back on.
A hard reset is done by pressing and holding the bottom right hand corner of the screen while the power is off and then pressing the power button on. A pop up will appear asking to confirm the reset.
The hard reset will erase the user data, so it is advisable to save the data if possible.
Installing and running the Garmin WebUpdater to load or reload the latest update will resolve most issues.
download the latest version of WebUpdater software

The screen on my Garmin nuvi 205 sat nav keeps going blank, although I can still see and hear that it is working. What is wrong and can I get it fixed?

Try resetting your nuvi by holding the power button for 8 or more seconds see page 42of owners manual.
Have you tried a touch screen calibration? Here is the procedure:
Turn off your Nuvi. Then hold the upper left corner of the screen firmly while turning it back on.Release the power key when the Garmin screen appears.
I have attached a link to the owners manual which explains this procedure on page 41.

Screen on my Garmin Nuvi 650 is frozen (no reaction to touch). Cna move through screens via the on/off button. Haven't updated maps...ever. Seems like most repairs will cost me $25 just in shipping. ...

The problem with the gps device is a minor one. First you ensure it is properly charged, then you reset it by holding down the power button for about 15 seconds, then it will restart and you will be able to touch the screen once again. If that does not work, then you need to calibrate the screen, take note that calibrating the screen does not just work the moment you try it, you need to try it repeatedly till you get it right. This is how to calibrate your nuvi:
  1. Turn off your nuvi,
  2. Press your finger on the upper left corner of the touch screen,
  3. While holding your finger on the touch screen for about 30 seconds until the calibration screen comes appears (white screen with touch dot),
  4. Follow the on screen instructions.
It is an easy fix. The solution above will help you out on that. Another solution is for you to remove the battery and fix it in back. That should also help.

My Garmin Nuvi 760 screen goes black after 8-9 seconds. I have replaced the fuse in the charge cord. Someone recommended that I remove the battery and turn the power button on for ten seconds to reset the...

Do not open the nuvi, the garmin site recommends the following method instead:

  1. Make sure you are sliding the power button all the way to the left.
    • If the unit does not respond, it may be that the battery is not charged.
  2. Connect the nuvi to a power source such as the USB cable and your computer.
  3. Reset the device, if the problem persists, by sliding the power button to the left and holding it in that position for 10 seconds
    • This resets the unit and prompts it to power on
If this fails to solve the problem, contact "SUPPORT" at www.garmin.com.

The reset button on your nuvi will switch the device off. The reset button can be used to switch your device off if the screen is frozen and you are unable to switch the device off by the power button.

To reset a nuvi 2xx:
  1. Look at the bottom of the device
  2. Locate the small circle with a dot inside (very small)
  3. Press the circle to reset the device.
To reset a nuvi 3xx or 6xx:
  1. Lift the antenna
  2. Locate a button with the word Reset inside
  3. Press the button to reset the device.
The device will now switch off.

Garmin nuvi 200 frozen screen

with the garmin off, hold down the right bottom of the screen and turn the garmin on, it will then ask you if you want to perform a hard reset. Choose yes and that should fix your problem.

Garmin 660 locked up / frozen

Resetting the device merely resets the power connection, on some devices there is a reset to manufacturer defaults on settings, but not your stored data. Working with GPS's 40 hours a week I constantly have to use the reset button when they lock up. Just press it in for a few seconds then if it doesn't power back up just hit the power button and everything should be fine.
