Red light flashing on power button

Hi:
Here is what I would do...
Turn the PC off and unplug it. Then press the power button to drain any residual power from the motherboard.
1. Remove and reseat the memory module(s). Restart the PC.
2. If removing and reseating the memory module(s) doesn't work, if you have more than one memory module installed, remove all but one, and start the PC.
Test each memory module one at a time, until you find the one that is bad.
If none of that works, check for bulging and leaking capacitors on the motherboard. These may be particularly noticeable around the processor area.

If your fan is trying to start up but won't, your system is going to give you a warning and most likely shut down. Make sure you have good connection for fan power and that it is clean and can turn freely. You may want to cosider replacing the fan.

The above link goes to lg's website describing the red flashing light where the power switch is, and

another switch down below which can turn that light off.

Try switching that other switch below off so the light turns off. Then, switch it back on.

If that doesn't work, then service should be scheduled for this discontinued model.

flip the red switch a couple on the back it should be on the power supply and leave it plugged in, an you need something to flip it with maybe a screw driver

It a issue with the power supply or the SMPS. Change the SMPS of same capacity and then it should work..............sodeep

The machine is getting the power but no display.This seems a RAM or motherboard issue.
1.Press and release NUM Lock after turning on and if it is responding this is a RAM issue and if not then the mainboard issue but before all refix the RAM once.

It sounds like your power supply unit as some leaky components, normally the bad powersupply unit show these types of symptoms. Try borrowing a powersupply unit from a friend that is similar to yours and replace to check if the powersupply unit is the culprit. If cornfirm PSU, than you neet to get yours fixed.

Click your model (Any Presario 5000 should do. I chose the Compaq Presario S5000T Desktop PC). Click on Solve a problem. Click on Boot-up / power / port issues. Click on Troubleshooting Power Supply Issues. And there you go.

how I solve this issue of a customer of mine.
replaced power supply and one memory stick was faulty
lesson learned: check the obvious first.. .Powersupply.. if problems persists... check your ram... if you have 2 sticks of ram,, try reseating and using one at a time or swap with known good memory.
