How do I edit the file names so songs by the same artist can be in the same folder???!

I bought this player (yp k3) because I thought I'd be able to edit the songs just by changing the file name, but it says the files cannot be opened directly from this device when I try the solution suggested here going to properties and so on. When I sync the device not all files show up on the sync, i.e., there are waaay more files on the device than those that show up when I try and sync it to my computer. I want to be able to see these files so I can edit them.

It's probably just me but this is the most unintuitive, hard to use mp3 player ever (on the computer)

So I've copied songs from friends, and they have called them other names or spelt the names of the artist incorrectly, so in my player they of course turn up under different folders - I just want all the songs from one group to be in the same folder, so I just want to change the file name so it does this. sooo annoying. How do you EDIT the file names of songs once you have put them on the mp3 player?? I'm sooo annoyed right now.

Thanks - I've already tried to edit them in my computer but they appear to be read only and I cannot change the names of the files at all, even if I go to properties and try to type in another name...

Also when I sync the music from the player to the windows media player about 1gb doesn't show up - which is the stuff I've got from other people. This is really annoying because this is the stuff I want to change, so like I have stuff under Dave Dobbyn and I have downloaded the CD onto my computer - but then I've got other songs from people and they've spelt his name like Dave Dobin or Dave Dobbin so then that's in a completely separate file..

Basically nothing I've tried works, because I can't get this missing 1gb into windows media player to edit it, but I can see it in my computer but I can't edit it there either.

    Very frustrating!!

Thanks.. I tried what you said and the folder doesn't say it is read only, but basically is says the file cannot be opened directly from this device, please copy to a local folder and open the copy.

I did this and was successfully able to change the file name and all the details like the album and year and so forth but then I wasn't sure how to get it back onto the device - it wouldn't let me just copy and paste or drag and drop back to the device from the local folder where I changed the information.

Thanks for all your help! :)

Then the problem is not the mp3 player but your files. They are probably marked as read only. This usually happens if you copied them from another media like mp3.

Right click over the folder holding them, choose properties. In the new window you will seee an attribute called read only ticked. Untick it. Press OK. The computer will ask if you want to repeat this on all sub-folders. Choose Yes. This will allow you to edit your files.

If you have music files with Digital Music Security (DMS) you wont be able to edit them. Better to re-download them using p2p software.

Easy to do.

Connect your mp3 player to your computer.

By default the device is in MPT mode. In this mode you need to use media player or rhapsody or Samsung's own media software to transfer files. You need to have the music on your laptop. Once on the laptop you can edit the details - name, artist, etc to whatever you like. You can then drag it onto the player and it will keep those settings. remember to delete the files with the details you don;t want from the player

Go into my computer you will see yp-k3 device in the listing. You can edit the names directly this way but you cant move them to a folder.

If you have windows media player then all you need to do is insert your YP-K3 into the computer then windows media player will show you a bunch of options for your MP3 click what ever suites you. Then rip the C.D to the windows media player. Then click and drag the songs if you want all of them click the first one press shift down on your keyboard then stop when you have all the songs you want then click and drag to the right hand side where it has your YP-K3

LG dare does not show artist name during playback. It only shows the song title. So, if I have a random playlist set up, with random artists, etc. I only see the song title during playback. If I want to...

rename the file types as follows (artist name - song title.mp3) example (Lit - Miserable.mp3)

otherwise you must edit the song info in each indivicual song from your computer and add the artist name by right-clicking the file and selecting properties........thanks and pls rate this post

If I have my YP-K3 plugged in, samsung media studio crashes immediately, and Emodio also does. I want to edit the playlists, the PLA files, is there any other way to do this?

Yes the same thing happens with me. I removed samsung media studio then I create a new folder in My documents, call it by the artist name eg The Beatles. place your mp3's in this file. Now plug in your YP-K3 and double click on it's icon in My computer go to data then music or playlists (whatever you want to do) cut the file you created in My documents and paste it in music or playlists.

yer that's what I do but aparently you can use iTunes

Hope this helps

Songs seperate when put on mp3

It could be because sometimes on your computer then name were stored slightly different. Like the artist's name might not be spelt with capitals and the mp3 player notices this and seperates them...
Check all the songs on your computer and then try re-snyc them.

Samsung K3 mp3 player

To erase a music file, you must plug the K3 into the computer, and when a window pops up that says "Open in Folder", "Open with Media Player", etc. Choose "Open in Folder" then go to "Internal Storage", then choose "Music". From there, you can delete by artist, or if you click on a folder that has an artist's name for the title, you can erase by album. From there you can erase by track by double clicking on an album folder.
To erase, right click the folder you wish to delete, and select "Delete".

Won't let me name songs

To put names on the tracks, artists, albums, etc. You must put the track on a media player. (Windows Media is what I use), go right click on the track and select "Edit". From there, you can name the track, and if you have the MP3 plugged into the computer, it should automatically change to what the computer as it saved as.

My 2gb yp-k3 mp3 player freezes when there is too many playlists

The answer is not to use more than 2 playlists. If you haven't upgraded the firmware you can try that.
