LP540 Projector Lamp Does Not come on> it has an error message; "Lamp didn't Strike". Does that mean the Lamp/Bulb is bad?

Hi,
It's most likely the lamp is bad or the part that starts the lamp called a ballast is bad. The LP540 model has an issue with the ballast burning out. The ballast is a part that starts or strikes the lamp. The only sure way to test is to try starting it with a known good lamp.
You can check for signs of a bad lamp. Think about how long you've had your projector & estimate the total hours on your lamp. If it's over 500 it very well could be the lamp as they fail at any time. Remove the lamp cover door & pull out the lamp to visually inspect it. Look in good light & use a magnifier if available too check for any cracks or chips in the small bulb & look to see if the round part of the small bulb is covered with a lot of white or if it's not round anymore. If it's very white it means it has a lot of hours on it. If there's any loose glass inside (check by turning the lamp cage in different directions) then the lamp is bad. If it's nice & clear or has only a small white spot it's probably a good lamp.
I repair almost all Infocus models if you need a quote.
Thanks & good luck,
Jim

InFocus made several firmware (and hardware) updates to fix their lamp problems. Check their support and update your fw if it hasn't been made. Of course you need to get it started to see what fw version it is running, Here is a link that might help you.

Put new bulb in it wont strike, put old bulb back in (worked before0 and it wont strike WTF

Make sure the lamp connector in the projector has not been pushed in as I have seen this happen on a couple of LP540 and LP640 projectors.
If the connector is pushed in the connector on the lamp will not make contact and strike the lamp.

Getting a bulb did not strike message... any ideas?

If the lamp is good, then it was installed you may have pushed the lamp connection inside the lamp housing out of place so there is no connection being made.

Lp600 won't strike

If you replace the lamp but do not reset the lamp hours then the projector will not ignite the lamp to stop it blowing up the lamp and causing further problems. You can reset the hours without the image, on the x2 version you turned on for 1 minute then held down the volume up and down buttons for 10 seconds but all versions vary. The infocus website can usually tell you how though you may have to look for it a bit. Failing that try a firmware update available from the infocus website that should erase its brain so you can start again, hopefully you have kept the original leads it was shipped with to do this otherwise it will cost you another £20

Lamp will not strike error message

this can sometimes indicate either an overheating issue, a lamp service life problem, or that the cover to the lamp housing has not been secured properly.

LP540 INFOCUS

good luck. not even the infocus authorized service centers get those. besides, they were made by another company that does not make power supplies antmore. and infocus doesn't have any new ones in stock. if you're getting no power at all, replace the mosfets. it works half of the time.
