Tray 1 - load ltr (WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!!)

Load ltr means to load letter size paper. If its saying try 1 load ltr - its saying that you are out of letter size paper in tray number one of your printer.

This is usually caused by the tray being incorrectly adjusted.

First remove the paper and check for curls on the end that was facing the rear of the tray. If the paper has curled, it was pushed too far into the tray.

There is a small tab inside the tray at the front that should be aligned with a mark that says "Ltr or Letter". There should actually be a little arrow on the tab pointing to an alignment mark what should say "Ltr or Letter". If it is pointed at something else, squeeze it to move it to the "Ltr" mark Once done, the paper should fit loosely in the tray without curling at either end.

Please note. SOME of these models have a tray that adjusts differently. In these models you can actually make the tray a little bigger by pulling it lengthwise. Consult your owners manual or down-load it from brother.com if you are unsure. In either case there will be two marks in the tray that you must line up correctly to make sure the tray is set for the correct size of paper. The marks should have LTR or Letter written beside one of them. If the tray is set too small it will jam the paper up into the feed slot. If the tray is set too large, the paper may not reach the pickup roller causing a "paper out" error. The paper should sit loosely in the tray with no more than 1/4 inch of space at each end of the paper.

Also make sure your paper is not stuck together with static. It helps to "fan" the paper like a deck of cards before putting it into the tray.

Hope this helps. Please check the printer properties before clicking Ok at print menu command. Now check the available paper tray handler. Try bypass, tray1 or MP tray.

Check also the default paper on Printer Menu command by pressing appropriate setup button. You can try also placing the paper on bypass try if available. The load LTR message means the machine waits a short bond paper on MP tray or on bypass tray.

Looks like the print job wanted letter sized paper in the tray.

Please unplug the printer cable eject the paper and uninstall the printer driver comletly and restart the computer after that reinstall the printer driver and insert the paper in paper tray.

Check the paper size setting in the printer. Set it to the paper size you normally use such as A4 and the default tray. Check the default paper size in the printer driver in your computer and the default tray. Finally, check the paper size of the document you are printing. If all these match, it should not try to be smart and ask you to feed paper.

Your system has some problems. If this problem occurs,
contact your service representative.
On Line/Error LED

• Paper jam occurs. To solve the problem, see “Clearing
Paper Jams” on page 5.6.
• The front cover is open. Close the front cover.
• Paper tray is empty. Load the paper in the Tray.
• The toner cartridge is out of toner. Remove the old toner
cartridge and install a new one. See “Installing the Toner
Cartridge” on page 2.4.
• You pressed the Cancel button while the printer is
receiving data.
• In Manual Feed mode, there is no paper in the manual
tray. Load paper into the manual tray.
• If the printer is receiving data, the On Line/Error LED
slowly blinks green.
• If the printer is printing the received data, the On Line/
Error LED blinks green fast.

Power the printer on whilst holding down the TRAY button to access the Network Menu
