Braun Clean and Renew not working

I've been using a Braun 8985 for the last 3 years without any problem. However, recently the clean and renew stand has stopped working. That is, it still charges but cleaning cycle does not start, although the refill is full and the green led signals that the "intensive" cleaning cycle is needed. Any suggestions to make it start cleaning?

I took the file on a nail clipper and turned the impeller inside the unit. Remove the cleaning fluid from the unit. Turn the unit upside down, On the part that sticks into the large hole of the fluid reservoir you'll see the impeller. Just turn it it enough to dislodge any whiskers and try it again. Worked for me. Good luck

Cleaning the clogs (see for instancehttps://shavercheck.com/unclog-braun-cle... ) and turning the "impeller" solved the problem for me. Now I have a working clean and renew charging station, again, thanks!

Thank you! I used a paper clip to turn the small white impeller inside the hole. Works great now.

The pump in the stand may be bad. in this case you will need a new clean and charge unit. these are available at shaveroutlet.com. see link below

I banged the living $h1+ out of it for a while, made sure the holes were clear, and rotated the impeller in both directions with a screwdriver. I filled the reservoir with water to test it, and it seems to be okay.

I have had a Braun 8985 electric shaver for 4 years now. I have recently replaced the cutter block and foil but I am still having a problem with the shaver. It is not unusual for me to have to make 3 or...

The symptoms you describe indicate that the 'drive unit' is the problem. This part includes the swivel frame that the foils and cutters fit onto as well as the motor. Sometimes a piece of the plastic oscillator inside will break. The vibration causes the loud noise and it can not oscillate properly because of the break.
You will find the part needed at shaveroutlet.com. See link below for this part and scroll down the screen for helpful installation video

pit back in the charge station for at least 4 hours and switch the power on for the charger

I have the Braun 360° Complete 8985 Electric Shaver, and ive learned that it is pritty much gonna keep being a money hole. Can any one suggest a self cleaning brand that is more reliable?

The self-cleaning shavers are all much more expensive to maintain than traditional non-self-cleaning shavers. Your model 8985 is not inherantly more expensive to maintain than any other self cleaning model by Braun or other brand. The cleaning solution is expensive, the cleaning machines break because of exposure to liquid, and the heads often wear out faster as well.
Because of this, I strongly suggest you buy a shaver without a self cleaning machine. Most models that do not include self cleaning machines are very easy to clean with an old toothbruh dipped in rubbing alcohol. If you liked the way the Braun shaved when it was in good condition, I would suggest the following models linked below as possibilities

Disassemble a braun Clean & renew razor cleaner

To open model 8985 you will first need to gently pry off the 'cap' on the bottom that surrounds the hole where the cord plugs in. Once removed the side grips will pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to take off back cover and access insides. Inner parts simply lift out.

If replacement parts are required, you will find all components for this model at shaveroutlet.com

Clean and Renew stand for braun 8595 does not seem to cycle properly...after shaving and placing in unit, it randomly seems to clean and is stuck on cleaning cycle (normal light blinking, no charge) I then...

The circuit board on the shaver may have become faulty. One thing you can try is to fully charge the shaver first, directly connected to the outlet, and then try using the cleaning base. Also, be sure that the fluid level is sufficient. Lastly, you may be able to buy a used but working condition cleaning station off of eBay. New replacements are a bit costly.
