Shift interlock problem. This is designed to keep the car from being shifted out of park by accident without your foot on the brake. The easy is to chaeck and make sure your brake switch is working and all your fuses are in working order. You should be able to over ride the interlock if you still have issues by inserting your key into a small slot located somewhere near the sifter. If the fueses are good and the brake switch is working you will need to have the interlock assembly diagnosed.

The shifter needs to be inspected.If the gears are shifted automatically.The shifter assembly is got misaligned,it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities.But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this auto shifting occurred then its shifter assembly realign issue.

Manual Transmission doesn't have a filter in the transmission, you only change oil thats it and it and it doesn't have a Pan either. Good luck

You may want to check your brake light bulbs and fuse as it is what releases the parking pin.

Should'nt be over 1 hr,Labor Most shops charge a 1 hr. min. Good luck to you, As for price it depends on the hourly rate your shop charges,

When you experience this problem, check to see if your brake lights are coming on. It could be as simple as a brake light switch malfunction. If the brake lights are functioning as the problem is occurring then you could for example have a problem with the shift interlock solenoid.

I had this problem on my zx2, there is a solenoid on the right side of the shifter, if you take the center console out you can see it, you can zip tie it open and it will fix the problem, i wouldn't bother with replacing it, the only thing about zip tieing it is it will shift out of park even with the car off. but it fixed it, i have pictures i can send you if you need help, email me at [email protected]
