I have a blue line about 3/4 inch wide from the top right to the middle bottom. ( not a straight line ) I replced thr projection lamp with no fix to the problem. I added an additipnal fan and cleared up the problem. On furthe investigation I replaced the air filter and kept only the original fan and the problem was solved. Can you explain this.
Hello :
I suggest u retrace you the steps u took to replace your lamp make sure no foriegn objects got on the prism where the light shines throung the optics engine, if you remove the lamp compartment througly. If you had a perfect picture prior to replacing the lamp, then retracing your steps you might find something that does not belone. One final note: Did you purchase the right lamp 120watts anything higher than this wattage could damage your optics engine. I suggest never vacuuming the compartment because particals fly around from the suction and could get on the glass of the color wheel asembly.
Go to menu then setup look for convergence if you Do NOt see convergence then you have a open fuse FL231 Located on right side of FBT there is 3 in a roll small brown rectrangle looking caps but they are Fuses it will be in the one in the middle.
I called a repair company who said it would cost about $1100. to replace the optical block. Sony offered no help or solution and the comment was "all electronics will have problems in 3 years". We will buy a replacement after researching what we want/need.
Thanks for your input.
You have a opened fuse FL231 next to flyback transfomer are 3 Fuses they look like small brown squares/ Fuse in the middle is bad when you do not have convergence listed in menu. You can pull the top off of these fuses .
This is a very common problem with your model. My best advice is to have a hitatchi authorized service center come out and give you an estimate then call Hitachi and complain to them about the problem. They will useually supply the part for free and you will only have to pay labor to put it in. A good shop will run you $300-$400 to put it in for you.
Can you describe in a little more detail what the symptoms are? Are the streaks thin lines or are they large thick swashes of Blue? Is yur video still visible? Sounds like it may be the blue convergence amps or the resistor tied into the amps. is there anyway you can post a picture of your screen distortion?
