Rumbling noise during draining

We have had our Duet Washer for approximately 4 years without issue. However, today we starting hearing a rumbling noise during the wash cycle. We stopped the cycle to check it out. There was a significant amount of water left in the machine. We switched the cycle to drain and still hear the rumbling noise. Any ideas? There are no error messages shown.

Whirlpool duet washer will not drain or spin, keeps making a rumbling noise, what can I do?

Hello Randall;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

I have a Whirlpool Duet clothes washer. They are nice units. The information following is based on my model number GHW9150PW0.

You do not have a drain problem. I am more concerned with the rumbling noise.

1.) On both the front and back end of your drum you have a spring loaded counterweight. It is possible you have a broken spring.

Your should also check out your drive belt. At a high speed it may be slipping.

The above will effect your independent motor control located inside the washer, located inside your unit.

I have a stackable washer/dryer gas maytag. Purchased around 17 years ago. The dryer is not drying clothes. Gas is powered fine and it is heating up. The cycle seems shorter than normal

Hello,
The problem with it not drying is most likely going to be a worn out blower wheel thats slipping and not moving the warm air through the clothes to dry them properly. Always a pretty good sign the blower is slipping is,if you hear a rumble noise from the dryer at start up and also that same rumbling noise when the power stops. So if you hear it at start up...wait 30 seconds and open the door and listen for the rumble noise as drum stops. also you can check where the vent exits the house and see if their is air flow when the dryer is running.

Error code Sd (or 5d)

It means Suds Lock(Overdose of Detergent Detected During The Wash Cycle). If suds are detected continuously by the pressure switch during the drain or spin phases, the washer will fill 4 litres of water and during 5 minutes the unit will rest without tumbling, the water will be drained and it will try to spin or drain again.

If too much detergent was used:
– Run the unit through a Rinse/Spin cycle.
– Run a Normal cycle without adding any detergent.
This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump, pressure switch and Central Control Unit(CCU).
4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check drain pump.
7. Check the pressure switch.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test.

Whirlpool Duet Mdl GHW9150PWO Washer stops

HI. this code represents a Long Drain issue.

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and F02 is flashed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

NOTE: After 4 minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F02 error code will be displayed.

Potential Causes

• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked
• Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
• Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects
• If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump

Very loud rumbling noise during spinning

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Whirlpool Duet 9100 starts cycle then stops & wont drain

F2 code is a drain issue. If you are not using he detergent you can cause slow draining and then you will get the code. Try using less detergent. Also, try disconnecting the power to the washer to reset controls.

Rumble/clacking while draining & spinning

Check for debris in filter of pump assembly. The filter unscrews out of the machine. It is located behind the bottom panel. Remove the two or three screws holding the panel in place, gently ply down and you will see what looks like a handle. It will be hard to turn but unscrew it and check to see if there is any debris. Have towels near by as there will be quit a bit of water coming out as you remove it. It the unit still makes noise there is a good chance the pump motor is going.

Whirlpool Duet Sport not running it makes clicks and it grinds

A common problem with noises from washing machines has been the under wire that may come out of small clothes. In the washer they can get stuck in one of the inner basket holes and make a scrapping noise, they can actually make there way into the pump and jam the pump, or make a terrible noise when the pump is running. Grab a flash light and have a peek inside the washer for this. Front load washers seem very common to this happen! If the tiny cloth is showing signs of fraying, may be best not to wash it in the washing machine, replace the cloth.=======
