I have a Bosch HBN 455 double oven with the convection oven on top, and a regular oven on bottom. The unit is about 5 yrs old. We recently ran the Self Clean mode, and it seems like it has malfunctioned since. Specifically, the convection oven no longer heats in Convection Bake mode, but works otherwise, and the lower oven seems rather hit and miss as to how accurate the thermostat is (ie., it can be set to 400 degrees, but a standalone thermometer reads only 300). Are the problems related? I would presume not, and that the upper oven needs a new convection heating element. What about the lower? What is the difficulty of repairs?

The display does not show any error message, but if I put the oven in Convection Bake mode, the fan runs, the "heat" light comes on, but the oven doesn't heat up. Since the convection bake heating element is distinct from the thermal upper and lower elements I suspect that the problem could be either the heating element itself or the switch/wiring for the mode.

I think I need advice from an expert familiar with this particular unit, not ovens in general. I know from reading the users manual that there are upper and lower heating elements that are used in the normal thermal oven modes as well as the Convection Broil and Roast modes, but during Convection Bake, only the Convection heating element is in use. It is this mode that is not working properly.

If you can get me the manual, that would be great. I suspected that the issues were possibly related to the use of the self clean cycle, and wanted to be able to narrow it down to the electronics or the heating element before tearing it apart.

I looked at your site, but didn't see a manual associated with the Bosch oven. Am I missing something?

    thanks...

Try zipping the file to compress it. 55 megs might exceed my attachment limit.

    thanks

All the controls are on the top. Using self clean excessively causes damage to electronic circuits.I do no advise the usage of self clean especially for something as complex and expensive as this bad bot. I have the repair manual for this oven. I am trying to get it to download where I can send it to you. It is 55 megs. I need you to comment back so I can have a way to link it to you when I get it loaded to Gdocs. Dang computers. Wish I had a faster one but I fix stoves not pcs. LOL Whats gonna happen is My 30 minutes is gonna be up before I can get you the document. Waiting for your reply.

I just thought of something. I might try it. I cannot email this manual because the file size is too big and I cannot load it into google docs because it is too big. I bet I could burn it into a cd and mail it to you if I could figure out how to burn a cd. If I had your address and a blank disk I could try and burn it to that disk. you mail me one and a self addressed stamped envelope and i will try it. Mail me some directions how to using windows media which I have. I am an old guy who don't know nothing about these computers.

Hi,

Do you see any Error Message on the Display?

If not, then it should not be a Concern. More often this could be Thermal Fuse on the Back of the Unit ( On Most Models ) will stop the Broil and Bake from Turning ON. You would just start a bake cycle and the temperature will sit at 100 and something degrees and never raise.appliance.

Let me know, once you check the same.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My Bosch double oven timer is not working. No clock, notimer, but the oven is working fine.

Sure this is the failure off the unit but make sure that the step down transformer for the power to the unit is faulty or burnt. If so replace the transformer. If power goes tto unit without display then the processor can be faulty . Change the clock timer. unit if you need the timings.

Bosh double oven. Temp is 100 degrees cooler on top oven, any ideas? both on bake mode

The fact that top oven is 100degrees less than bottom is no relation between the two; they are controlled by independent stat controls and if the only way you know if the temp is correct, is to set a temp (such as 350 degrees) and put a thermometer in that oven to see if the thermometer is with in 25degrees of the control settting. You need to do this for the bottom oven as well to see if it is aslo within 25degrees of the setting. then you make adjustments for each unit independently. If the controls are mechanical (knob), then the adjustment is within the control (usually by removing knob and serching for a small screw). If the controls are electroonic, then you need to search the circuit board to see if there is adjstments mounted on the board. Goodluck,Macgivor

The good sign is that the motor works fine as do heaters. If the operator interface acknowledges feature selection by beeping or what have you, we can safely say the problem lies with the control board or relay.

Bosch HBN 455 Oven Cooling-Fan Issue

After the oven is switched off, the after-run of the cooling fan is controlled by an electromechanical thermostat switch. The fan can switch back on, due to residual oven heat that accumulates within the oven's outer case and reactivates the cooling fan temperature switch. Considering yours is making buzzing sounds and activates on and off, the fan's thermal switch may have dirty contacts or just be defective and require replacement.
