Connect Yellow to Battery (always 12V), red to ignition, and black to ground. Disconnect all others. Check it. If the radio stays on and plays CD, then radio is good. You may check other wiring

Yellow to yellow red to red. Red should be your memory and yellow will go to ignition so it will come on when you start your car

I hook up a jvc kd-s16 and it will not keep the memory of the stations can you help

The yellow wire is the constant 12+V.
It has to be hooked up to a constant battery source.
If you did not install an aftermarket wiring harness consult
http://www.installdr.com/QuickWiring.html to find the constant 12+V wire color code in your dash.
If you unhook your battery, you can splice into the cigarette lighter hot wire to keep the constant memory of stations and clock time.

Just installed a JVC KD-S16 radio into a 2001 kia spectra. Everytime the car is turned off the radio stations reset and so does the clock in the car. I used the wire harness. But I think it has something...

There is a constant power wire and a power wire that is actuated when you turn the car on. sounds like you may have them reversed.
You can check the pamphlet that came with your radio to see what the Jvc color code is for your hot's.
Double check them with the wire color code on the harness.

I just purchased a JVC KD-S16 CD Player and I can't install it.

Get an adaptor wiring harness. It plugs directly into the plug in the truck. The wires are all labeled and you won't have to hack up the wiring in the truck. You can get the adaptor whereever they sell car stereos.

JVC KD-R200 won't power up for more than 5 seconds

Check your wires they might be touching steel around your car mostly look at your yellow and red wires those are the 1' that give it power and light to your radio also check your radio fuse in the back.

Wiring my jvc kd-g331 to a 1996 vauxhall corsa

You can go to a place that installs car stereos and purchase a universal wiring harness for your car that will cost about $15 and allow you to do the wiring very easy without the need to know what every wire is for. This harness would be wired to the harness you got from JVC for your new radio and all you need to do is to match the colors of the JVC harness to the same colors of the universal harness that would then just plug right into the factory wiring harness for your car and then the other end plugs into the connector for your JVC radio. It is very easy and insures that you have all the proper wires connected to operate your radio and have full functions available for use.

If you require to know what each wire from the JVC harness is for, just ask.

I would be happy to offer you more help if you need it, just reply to this post and I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

If you found this free information to be useful a FixYa! rating would be appropiate and very much appreciated. After all, it is the only reward we get for helping people like yourself for free.

Thanks and good luck with your radio installation,

Dave
