double check cable from the mainboard to your hardisk like IDE or SATA together with the power cord
just make sure if its fully inserted. boot up the the pc press delete to check UP THE BOIS IF THE HARDISK is connected.

This is because the sound driver achitecture does not fit with operating system of windows 7. Search for the a sound driver that will be compatible with windows 7, that will be found in the website of the motherboard brand.
