Picture gets wavy and the screen gose black, no sound, but the power light stays on. If I turn it off and restart, its okay for a while, say 2 or 3 min. Sometimes I don't have any problems.
I was told that my STK392 260 capacitors were going bad. The ones I found in my set were STK394 260, Are these the same ones? Is there an esay way to get that board out to replace the capacitors without taking everything out? That may be more than I feel Ican do.I was told that my STK392 260 capacitors were going bad. Find out first is the tv black light that supplies the light so it projects a picture is not turning on. Shine a bright light like a flashlight in at the screen and cup your hands around your face or have another person do that. You should see a faint picture. If not most likely you have a black light malfunction. change channels while doing this and try accessing the menu. If you see all of this faintly with a flashlight, then it is the black light inverter which may be part of the power supply. Here is a link to Ebay. hi, Is there is any light in the screen at the time picture gose. If not, then Backlight inverter is faulty. All lcd tv have backlight to light the pixels. If you watch the screen very near then you will be able to see image on the screen. First of all check is there is any budged capacitors in the power supply. If there then replace it will solve the problem. If no then check the inverter board. Do on thing check the fuse in the inverter board. If the fuse is faulty then replace it. If the fuse blews again then the inverter board is short you have to replace invereter baord. It is not possible to repair the backlight inverter. You have to replace the board with a new one.Have added the picture of inverter board and budge capacitor for your reference. If you need any more assistance feel free to contact me by Fixya.
I don't know what model you have,but... I have a 50v715 and it was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the lamp. So if you have not replaced the lamp in a while then it could just be it time. Hope this is helpful.
dreaded capacitor issue. benq's were famous for it. if you are handy with disassembly and careful you can take it apart and do it yourself. look for any capacitors with rounded tops. i fixed one ... the part is only two dollars or so but it's a good feeling to know you fixed it instead of tossing it.
