My magnavox smart tv turns

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many flat panel Samsungs with similar issue) on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l0AUj8QUkg&NR=1&feature=fvwp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7b_nTaZYcU&feature=related

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
It also affects other devices such as amplifiers, CRT type monitors and TVs and computer power supplies just to name a few. Capacitors are capacitors, and if one in the power supply (or anywhere) goes bad, you are going to have issues. You should concentrate on the power supply section of your TV.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.

Connecting a computer to the tv

Philips Magnavox MS3652S will only connect to a computer with a converter (except if you have a video card that outputs to a TV compatible mode). You need a VGA to composite video (or S-video) converter. http://www.svideo.com/vgatotv.html for a few of the converters.

Computers output RGB signal; TVs do not read this signal. The video cards that can provide a TV-out signal directly come with a converter for the AV cables. (Check your manual for the video card. For some graphics cards with TV-out, see http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=48&Description=&Type=&N=100007709&IsNodeId=1&srchInDesc=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&PropertyCodeValue=2328%3A14103&PropertyCodeValue=2328%3A14101&PropertyCodeValue=2328%3A14201&PropertyCodeValue=2328%3A14104 .)

I hope this helps.

The fly back. is this something i can replace?

If you know how to desolder and solder you can replace this component...Be sure to discharge the high voltage lead first before you start. You will need to get a screwdriver and attach a wire to the shaft of the screwdriver, then attach the other end of the wire to the ground(bare) wire on the picture tube. Next, you need to slip the screwdriver under the anode cap on back top of picture tube making sure youre not touching any metal part of the screwdriver. there will be a loud pop sound so don't be alarmed. Once this has been done you can safely remove the anode cap and replace the flyback. Even if the set has been off for some time you will still need to discharge the anode because it behaves like a battery and will hold the charge for several months

Tv says front in top

The TV is telling you the front audio/video jacks are in use. In this case, do plug in your RCA jacks there.

Sound gone from right side on surround sound and right side of tv

could be a speaker too but a channel going out also is a good suspect. I would have this checked by a TV repair shop before going inside with a service manual. I am sure if its a sound channel that a componet jsut went out and can be replaced. Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/edwy_1a56970cf1ea4620

Magnavox TV

It's possible that V-chip is locked.. Go to the menu and see if the lock option is active... The backdoor password is 0-7-1-1 twice.. Entering it the first time, if it times out, will display "incorrect" just enter it again and it should ask you for a new password..
If that's not it let me know and we'll try a couple other things.

Cant turn off caption on tv

There are several universal remotes on the market that can be programmed to work this function on your TV, one that comes to mind are the Logitech Harmony remotes. The great thing about this remote is it will work for any device in your house. The down side is they are 100$+.

Now if you simply want to turn off CC with the remote, and then take it back to the store, then that could work too! ;)

Another option would be to leave the TV completely unhooked for a while, hoping to "clear" and memory on the TV, resetting closed captioning back to the factory default. A lot of older TV's also would have a reset button, usually behind and door that could accomplish this. There is no guarantee that this would even work though. I think the safest bet would be a new universal like the Harmony.

Cheers!

Tuner will not pick up cable box on channel 3, front and rear AV

In order for the TV to work with the cable box by using a piece of coax and tuning the TV to channel 3, you must make sure the TV is in "Cable" mode on the tuner and not "AIR or Antenna" the frequency maps are different between these types of service and channel 3 cable will not be the same as channel 3 on Air or UHF/VHF.

Often there is an auto program feature on TV's that will "scan" for all available channels, and this should select the proper input type.

Hope this helps!
