I cannot get sound while watching tv. I have had

I cannot get sound while watching tv. I have had the unit unpluged for two months. When I turned it on it defaulted to am radio. I then put it on Video 2 that is the setting for TV but no sound came on. The tv showed Closed Capiton but that doesn't show anymore. Can you help me?

    The test mode works fine so the speakers are plug in. I am connnected to a Directv reciever. The tv picture works fine as does the receiver on test, am ,fm ect.

    where are you reciving the audio signal from. I mean what is plugged into video 2?cable or sat boxor audio out from a tv? Plug some audio source that you know is good dvd, tape deck you know to determine if it's the source or the reciver.Is the speaker swithed on?

I have been watching my LG 42LD520 for 2 months. Today turned it on and there is no sound. Any ideas??
If you are using a satelite system...just unplug the satelite receiver for 30 seconds and plug back up. Try unpluging the TV and check for the mute function...it may be off. Also go to the sound menu in the TV and be sure the speakers are on. The worst problem is a main signal board.

Sound problems
I have had the identical problem from the beginning. It happens in humid weather. Unplug the set while it's on, wait a second, plug it back in, and turn it on. Sound should be fine.

watch out if you contact rca/thompsen because they had me sent my unit back that went defective. Philips tv quit in mid show
Since the TV is only 2 months pld, it must be covered under Warranty. Just take it to the Service Centre and get it fixed. Froim your description it seems that the Horizontal Oscillator or Output section has a short circuit.
