I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 Note book that originally came with Vista Home Premium. I replaced the hard drive and installed Windows XP Pro. I cannot get an internet connection (either wifi or direct plug in) I ran a belarc scan and it shows that it is missing: Agere HDA Modem 6TO4 Adapter Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection When I put the old drive back in everything works fine. I tried to copy the needed files from the old drive with Acronis True Image but got error messages that prevented me from copying the files. Any suggestions?

After going through and installing all the drivers for Windows XP everything worked fine. I've built a couple of computers since then and have gained quite a bit more of experience working with the mysterious internal workings of computers. I just want to add an additional comment about drivers. You probably see or get lots of pop up ads that read "Fix Your Computer Now! Get all the updated drivers for your computer!" Save your money. You shouldn't mess with updating your drivers unless there is a problem. Even then make sure that the driver is the root of the problem - most likely it isn't. When you change the driver other things - not necessarily good - may happen, leaving you in worse shape than you were in to begin with. If you do need to update your driver, download a free copy of Belarc Adviser which will tell you who made the component you want to update. Then go directly to the manufacturers site and find the driver you need - many times the site will have a scanner which will tell you what your current driver is and where to download the latest driver. If you're uncomfortable about downloading the site driver scanner software, save it to your desk top and scan it with your computer security software before you install it.

My webcam is not working. I have changed my laptop from vista to XP. It is lenovo 3000 N100 model laptop

This happens because its driver is missing. Have you install even one of them? If not hen go here
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/migr-63572.html
download (as in Save, not Run) all of them and install them one at a time - start with the Hard drive and Video ones.

How to format a lenovo laptop

If you have the OEM Lenovo XP disc are you have to do is insert and follow the instruction. If you are using off the shelf software, then switch the BIOS SATA to compatibility mode, and boot from your CD drive with the disc in it, and format the harddrive followed by installing the software.( like Windows XP or the Vista)

I wanted to changed my laptop from windows vista home premium to windows xp professional. So xp installed fine then i had a set of drivers for xp which i had downloaded for Lenovo 3000 N200 AFU, SO i ran...

Whenever you are using the basic installation CD for windows XP, it seems like it does not have the driver for your hard drive on this CD. if you go to:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67897.html

there is a walk through on how to do so and the driver to download. If this laptop does not have a USB floppy drive, you can also download all the drivers and use a program called Nlite that makes unattended installation's which you can copy the installation CD to your hard drive, put your windows key into the installation where you dont have to type it in, and put all drivers you need into the CD so that when it gets done installing you dont have any issues with no hard drive showing up, or have to install any drivers except for printers or scanners if you copied them all.

Prob to get wireless internet connection of lenevo 3000 N100

Hmmm 3000 N100 comes by default with the Intel wireless 3945abg. There is a problem with the XP driver that you can grab off their website I fear, that is probably why it worked in vista, but not in xp. Had a lot of users coming to me with this issue

Try replacing your driver with this driver:

http://www.driversdown.com/drivers/Lenovo-3000-N100-Notebook-Intel-wireless-3945abg-driver-10.5.1.59-Windows-XP_79954.shtml

That one should be the most up to date driver. Please get back to me if this resolved the issue or not. If not, then tell me if you see even the available wireless networks or not at all. Does the network card show up fine in the device manager or do you got any marks on it like a red cross or a question mark?

If the solution helped, please rate me. :)
