I have the same urn and had the same problem.

There are 3 common causes of lost perk that can be dealt with at home, and cause about 1/2 of the failures with these urns. They are very common when the pots are used rarely or carelessly cleaned after use, and when coffee is ground too fine for perc (drip grind is too fine for perc). As long as the pot is still heating, check these three things:
1) Clean the _inside_ of the hollow stem )that holds the basket and moves the water from the bottom of the pot to the top), to remove all grounds. You should be able to see clearly through it.
2) At the bottom of this stem there is a very small cup that has little holes in it and fits into the little well at the bottom of the pot. Make sure these are completely clear.
3) Scour out the little well so all residue/ grounds are removed and the little cup fits perfectly into the well.

It is the perfect fit of the two that allows the perc-ing cycle to occur.

If the pot is not heating, or these cleaning measures do not work, a local electric repair shop can probably do the repair for about 1/2 the cost of a new urn.

Testimonial: "I will try the cleaning methed first. Thanks for the helpful hint. I don't use it very often,so I'll see."

Hi. The spring slips onto the stem just under the coffee basket, it holds the stem with pressure so the perked coffee go up the stem onto the spreader, check repairshack.com Ron

I broke the pump tube for my Farberware Urn #155-A, 55 Cup. Does anyone have one?

New tubes are available from Goodman's, 10914 NW 33rd Suite 107, Miami, FL 33172. Tele: 305 278 8822. If you broke just the ceramic outer tube, it will still work alright. The purpose of that cermaic tube was to prevent the hot water being perked up the stem from heating the other water that hasn't been perked yet.....

We have several Farberware FSU255 coffee urns in church kitchen usage. Have had some problems reported with the water not perking through the coffee grounds resulting in only hot water and frustration....

I have the older style 55 cup coffeemaker. It is critical that the coffee grounds basket compress that spring on the stem. Pull the spring upward alittle until the basket rises slightly above it's seated position until you put the lid on and it will put the necessary pressure on the stem down in the heater element hole. Also there is what appears to be a loose washer on the bottom of that stem (where it fits into the heater unit) This washer must be free to move around and it acts like a check valve to prevent water that has "perked" up the stem from falling back down the stem.

Farberware Coffee Urn won't make coffee

Be sure that the washer at the bottom of the pump stem remains loose.
If coffee grounds lodge in this area, remove under running water or with
