Hello,

As you may have noticed already, the player can be switched off when freezing and put on again, resetting the device as next:
1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power/Menu button.
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player.

Sometimes a firmware update or reinstallation is required, to get the player function normally again, see:

SANSA e260 will no longer get further than 25% of refresh database & freezes

I would recommend that you update the firmware on the device..Once the firmware is updated you shouldnt have that problem anymore..I hope that helps

Sansa e260 freezes up

It's not suppose to say Refresh Database when you connect it to the computer, it's only suppose to say that when you eject it OUT of your computer.

Did you load a massive amount of files during your last sync?

I don't think there's any need in resetting it if it is able to turn off and on. What I recommend doing is formatting it. Remember, formatting the player will cause you to loose ALL your media stored in the device. To format go to "My Computer" > "Sansa e260" right click and go down to format.

If it formats, then good. Turn it on and it should say "Refresh Database". Change the mode of your player to MTP(?) so that it will no longer refresh the database after transferring media(?).

Connect it back to your computer and reload your media onto it that was wiped out during the format. Now disconnect it and see if it works... It should.

If that doesn't work this should do the job for you: http://sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?C...

Always remember to update the firmware on your products, it is a wise idea to do so. (: http://sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?C... < Get updates with that.

Drain the battery if whatever you do don't work. Sometimes removing the battery for a few seconds on putting it back in works.

If you think you attacked this problem from every angle and still no luck. Contact sandisk: [email protected] Give them some time, their swamped with emails at the moment.

Microsoft asks for a certificate for sansa e260

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your windows media player software. If you have a card inserted on your player it would normally do that refresh database. If not try updating the firmware of the player.
