How do I enable 64 bit processing on a HP Compaq Proliant DL580 G4

I believe it's somewhere in the BIOS

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

I would like to ask for more info:

What operating system are you using?

What information do you receive that informs you that 64-bit is not enabled?

I don't think that you "enable" 64 bit processing, you buy a server with a 64 bit processor. Intel's Itanium is such one. You then install Windows Server 2003 x64 version.
That's pretty much it I think.

I have a Proliant HP DL580 G4 that had its system board replaced. The OS (Windows 2003 Enterprise) now only recognizes one cpu core. The server has 4 dual core cpu's. How can I get the OS to see all 8...

Hello,

You may need to check your BIOS to make sure the multiple CPU function is enabled. Once it is, a reboot should correct this for you.

Good Luck

64 bit os vmware esxi

make sure that the Ubuntu is seeing an X386 and not a X686 emulated processor. Ubuntu stopped support on 686 procs for the 64bit family awhile back. you can choose this under the items.
