The plastic wrist band doesn't have to be cut away. You need to dislodge the spring-loaded end of the pin from the hole in the plastic with the blade of a sharp thin knife.

The you proceed to lift one of the 4 snaps to open the cover. The battery is under a white translucent inside cover.

The original battery was Sony SR621SW.

Pay attention to the rubber seal ring when putting the watch back together.

I had the same problem.
Remove the watch band.
I had to cut the plastic band away.
The plastic was was easily cut.
The back plate of the watch simply snaps away.
No screws.
There are four corner snaps.
Get under one and the others will pop off.

I have a Crane Viceroy watch which is radio controlled. It says on the back glass back, stainless steel case. How do I remove the back. It has no screws or indent to prize it off. Thanks

Question edited for clarity.

It is probably a screw back. This is always my advice.

Tip & How-To about Watches

Changing Watch Batteries
Lots of posters ask "what is the battery in my (name of watch)" with a view to changing it yourself. This is a bad idea for many reasons. You don't have the tools or knowledge to remove a rotary screw on back, or the gasket sealant for a waterproof watch. Some fashion watches have 4 traditional screw and need professional grade jeweler screwdrivers. Also, there are about 20 batteries commonly used in watches, in various sizes and internal technology, Lithium Ion, Silver Oxide and Manganese Alkaline. If you buy them, you generally have to buy 10!

Don't sweat the details. Just take the watch to your local jeweler. They have all the batteries at hand and the tools to remove the back. It is done whilst you wait for $8 to $15!

How to change the battery on PC21J JAPAN MOVT STAINLESS STEEL CASE BACK #SR626SW watch

Hi,

The backplate is a "pry open" back. so you will need something like a blade or a hard thin flat object to pry the backplate. once this is done you will have access to the battery. Please note that there is a tiny Philips screw that holds the battery plate. you will have to remove this screw and then remove the battery plate. Also, note that around the case there will be a thin rubber "o" ring. this is what makes the watch water-resistant. so pls male sure you fix it back when you reinstall the watch.

Change the battery

You need to remove the back of the watch to get to the battery. If the watch is a water proof watch then the back is screwed on. After removing the back take care not to damage the gasket.
If you cannot remove the back of the watch then take it to a watch repairer, they can replace the battery and it won't be expensive.

How do I change the battery on fossil motorcycle clock?

You will need a very small (watch or glasses) Philips head screwdriver, and a SR626SW (or know as a 377) watch battery.
Remove screw 1 to remove the motorcycle back cover.
Remove the other 2 screws to take off the clock backing.
Remove the white plastic ring by pulling directly up.
Remove the battery.
Put the new battery in.
Press the white plastic ring back on.
Reassemble the clock backing with the two screws.
Reassemble the back of the motorcycle with screw 1.

I have a Steinhausen TW524L Watch how do i change the battery or is this watch automatic it has stopped running.

It's not as easy as popping off the back like some watches to replace the battery. The 4 screws on the top bezel are not the ones to remove. Look at the back side of the watch and you'll see 4 really tiny pinholes. You'll need a jewelers screwdriver small enough to fit into the holes to remove the 4 screws. Once you do that, the two halves of the watch come apart with a little pressure. It takes a little prying to get the case to separate. Once you do that, you'll see the battery. Be careful with the waterproof gasket as you'll need to put that back in the same position to keep the case sealed. The gasket is really delicate. You might consider taking it to a watch maker to change out the battery if you don't have the tiny (and I mean really tiny) screwdriver to remove the 4 back screws.

How do I remove the back from a channel J12 ladies watch after I have removed the 8 tiny back screws? My goal is to change the battery.

After removing all screws you have to use fine pointed tweezers and pry up watch case back using them. Insert between case and case back and pry up using lever action.

How to change battery

  • Spread the towel out on a flat surface.
  • Remove the watchband if necessary in order to access the back of the watch.
  • Unscrew the back protector from the watch using the correct size miniature screw driver. Place the screws in a small pile on the towel. Be careful not to drop them as they are difficult to find.
  • Remove the back plate by unscrewing the small screws. There is a tiny spring on the underneath of the back plate. It may be visible, or not. Make sure not to turn the watch upside down or the spring will dislodge.
  • Remove the rubber protector to find the battery.
  • Use sharp point tweezers to remove the clasp covering the battery. There is a small hole at one end of the clasp. Insert one end of the tweezers into the hole to spring the clasp loose.
  • Remove the old battery with tweezers.
  • Insert New Battery and Reassemble Watch
  • Pick up the new battery using regular tweezers and put it into place. Do not touch the battery with your fingers.
  • Replace the clasp over the top of the new battery.
  • Perform a reset by touching the AC contact with one part of the tweezers and the back of the battery with the other part. Hold for a few seconds. Lift the watch carefully and look up at the front to make sure the watch is working. Do not turn the watch over.
  • Replace the rubber cover.
  • Replace the back plate by screwing the small screws back into place.
  • Replace the back protector by screwing the small screws back into place.
  • Reattach the watch band to the watch face.

  • Feel a bit unnerved by this? Find a local jeweler. Best regards.

How to remove the back of my fossil watch in order to change my battery.

First you need to determine if the watch is a snap back type or a screw back. If the watch back has a series of equally spaced slots (usually about 6) around it's perimeter, then it is a screw back and you will need a special tool in most cases. You can sometimes remove a screw back using a pair of snipe nose pliers in two of the slots, but unless the watch can be mounted safely in a small vice then this is quite difficult. The back from snap back watches can be removed with a blunt pen knife. If you look carefully around the edge of the watch casing you should see a small indent in the cover. This is where you start with the blunt pen knife, working your way around the edge twisting the knife gently as you go. Eventually the back will snap out of the watch casing
