Have a Vivicam 5022 - it keeps shutting off as soon as it is turned on. has fresh batteries and the membory card is empty. how do i fix?

You could try formatting your SD/Memory card and see if that fixes it.

You might want to consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Is it actually an SD card? The Vivicam 5022 accepts SD cards up to 8GB (which means SDHC as well), but many Olympus cameras use an XD card, which is quite different. SD and SDHC cards are all the same for fit, regardless of brand.

Your ViviCam 5022 is compatible with SD and SDHC cards up to a maximum capacity of 8GB. See page 27 of the user manual for confirmation.

Make sure you're not in the macro mode. There's a slide switch on the end of the camera, near the SD card slot. Set this switch to the mountain position.
Also bear in mind that the flash is for still photos only, not for videos.

Now, if you could just get it to make you breakfast in bed....
Remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position nearest the contacts enables writing, the opposite position protects or locks it. Try sliding it fully to the locked position and then fully to the unlocked position. If that doesn't work, try a different card.

This happens when you are in close-up mode. Move the switch on the side of the camera to show the 'mountains' - this will fix it.

It most likely will but it will not store a lot of pictures due to the pixel count of this camera
