Any encryption key will be specific to a network so no there is not a free universal key. If you find a non encrypted network like at Panera Bread Co. then you don't need a key.

I go to connect and now a box appears Security key or passphrase? I have two lap tops no problem but I just got another one this appears

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

I am using a tp link 8901g router. my desk top and one of our laptops both work on wireless but our acer aspire lap top finds the router but does not ask for the wap key but will not connect it will...

Try going into the system then device manager uninstall the wifi driver. Reboot the pc and it should auto load the driver when getting back on the desktop. Then see if it ask for the WEP key
The wifi driver will say 802.g 111 or something so you know its not the 10/100 network.

How can i secure network

By going to the security setting in the router and assigning a WAP/WEP "Key" this will then enable security. Please consult your manual for how to do this.

I sent my lap top in for fixing so I got it back and I am trying to connect to internet and it states it needs a WEP or WPA Network Key address to type in can you help me with this? my other email is...

1. Your router is the issue. It is asking for the WEP password or Network Key.
This is set up in the Wireless router.
You either know the password or have it written down.
If you are the administrator of the the router and don't remember the password or user name you will have to reset the route to factory default settings and go through the setup wizard and choose and create and save a new user name and password / WEP/WAP key. Consult your router cd for the instruction set. It will walk you through.

Edimax BR-6424n router wireless works fine with

This could be because the encryption settings in the wireless router has not been entered into the wireless card configuration. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions to configure the wireless router and the wireless card in the laptop/computer :-

Panasonic cf-50 problems to connect wireless wpa personal

If the wireless card is an old model it possibly won't support WAP encryption. The wireless router most likely supports both WEP and WAP encryption.
WEP is not as secure as WAP so use the highest bit encryption that is available to you.

Trying to connect lap top

The WEP key is something you designate on your own router. IF you are trying to get into someone else's router you need to ask them for permission to have their WEP key. Otherwise you cant get in. If you forget your WEP key you can do a hard reset on the router to clear out the key.
