If the battery has been installed wrong you will need to get it to a trusted technician who will probably make the determination that that one or more of the vehicles computers has been damaged and will need to be replaced. it is critical now days to make sure the polarity is correct and they are not very forgiving when you make a simple mistake.

There is a fuse box under the hood with very large fuses in it, check and replace all the fuses that are burnt form the crossed cables.

Either you have a transmission issue, or perhaps you have a sticking emergency (parking) brake. They will often allow reverse but impede forward motion. Be careful of that, since it can cause serious overheating of the rear brakes.

98 windstar,3.8L.acr lurches when started,you can give it gas in park and will atempt to move forward,no reverse,put in drive and you have to give alot of gas to get to move ,then it makes a horrible...

Heavy load in park sounds like a transmission issue. The torque converter and transmission pump are still spinning in park

Ford tarus wont engage into reverse or forward

Check transmission fluid if low replace fluid with engine running look for leaks under car I would suspect a rusted out transmission line .Replace line or have line replaced with brake line of same size.refill fluid. If fluid is full check for loose or broken transmission linkage if none of the above are found replace or have transmission rebuilt.

Automatic Transmission goes into all forward

check fluid if it is a dark color and stinks transmissions probably needs rebuilt sounds like low reverse or direct clutch is bad trna will still go into loe by using forward clutch if low reverse is bad shoul be having problems with 3rd or direct in forward if forward clutch is bad

Windstar Minivan - starts, will not reverse, only forward

Needs a Trans most likely, known to fail around 100k miles. Maintenance very important and correct fluid on these. At the Dealer the price used to be around $2,000.00 , aftermarket shops around half that, FIND a REPUTABLE shop.

I have a 2001 ford f250 powerstroke diesel was driving and transmision started to slip drove about 3 miles and now wont move forward at all but reverse works fine

Some of the Ford transmissions actually have an aluminum gear which will go out somewhere around 150 to 200 thousand miles. OR it could be really low on transmission fluid.

2001 Ford E250 transmission has no reverse gear, when placed in reverse, the vehicle drives forward. Is the transmission faulty, or can it be a lesser problem?

I would check the shifter and the linkage. Even though the shifter lever is moving, that doesn't mean it's moving the linkage on the transmission.
