After you put the wrong pattewrn in about 3 or so times at the bottom of your screen you will see a forgot my pattern option. Click it and then sign in with your google account.
If you have forgotten the screen unlock pattern, you have up to five attempts to try
and unlock your phone. If this fails, you can unlock HTC Inspire 4G by entering your
Google Account user name and password.
On the unlock screen, attempt to enter your unlock pattern five times.
When prompted to wait for 30 seconds, tap OK.
If the display goes off, press the POWER button to turn
the display back on, and then press the bar on the lock screen and slide your
finger down to unlock the screen.
Tap the Forgot Pattern button in the lower right corner
when it appears.
Enter your Google Account name and password, and then tap Sign
in.
You are then prompted to create a new screen unlock pattern. If you no longer want
to use a screen unlock pattern to secure your phone, tap
Cancel. Follow that instruction step by step and if you success you get your HTC unlocked, remember read that instruction carefully, if you did wrong step you will not allowed to enter your google account.
IDK about a simple legitimate fix for this. I was just messin around with the pattern, hit "forgot pattern" to see what it does. It asks me for the Google username and password, but has no way for me to go back! I know the pattern! The Motorola Droid is free from this problem, when on the forgot password screen, it still allows me to go back to the pattern screen. Very disappointing HTC...
On the other hand, there is a bit of a "hack" that can be used to solve this. Create a new Google account. Then call the locked phone from another phone. While in the call, you have full access to the phone. Press home, go into your settings, and add your new Gmail account into the phone. End the call, go back, and enter your new Gmail info. You may also need to enable Wifi while the call is still connected, I'm not sure if 3G will work for the sync while the phone is "locked".
Hi
There is no actual way to get back to the unlock screen, the only way now is to enter the gmail password you used when you first logged into the phone. I you dont remember this then you will need to wipe your phone by doing the following :
Power off the G1
Hold Home Key + End key for 20 seconds or until you see a "triangle with an exclamation point and a picture of the G1"
Open the QWERTY keyboard and hit Alt+W
Your phone has been reset
The above process will erase all information you have stored on your device.
Thanks,
Joe
Ok, So I just had the same thing happen to me last night and I just fixed it. It'll take 2 people to do it. I went on to my gmail and changed my pattern, after a few minutes my phone had a triangle with an exclamation mark come up in the notifications bar. Don't bother turning off your phone...mine didn't reset for the pattern after 7 hours of being turned off. At this point, once you get that triangle, get someone to call your phone, it'll unlock it for a few minutes. Just long enough for you to change the password on your phone by clicking into that arrow. Then your phone will lock again after the call is done. Put the new password into your phone again on this screen. Then it'll ask you to draw another pattern. Draw something simplistic, then if you want to take it back off just go back into your settings and remove the lock....just remember your pattern this time! hope this helps!
Go to 'Setting', choose 'Data Synchronization', choose 'Data Synchronization' again, then make sure that the 'Background Data', 'Auto-sync', & 'Gmail' boxes are checked.
Go to 'Gmail', press the 'Menu' button on the front of the phone, select 'Settings', choose 'Labels', make sure 'Number of days to sync' is reasonable (i.e. 4 days, or 7 days, something that makes sense).
Back in the Gmail inbox, press the 'Menu' button on the front of the phone, choose 'Refresh'.
You should get your mail. Double check with the desktop version of Gmail.
1. Turn the G1 off. If it’s frozen on, take the battery out and put it back in the unit. 2. Hold the Home and Power keys down at same time for about 25 seconds. You will see a yellow triangle screen with exclamation point in the middle. Now to wipe the device clean: 3. Press Alt+L. 4. Press Alt+W for a factory reset. 5. Press the Home and Back keys again for about 25 seconds. The device should then reset again and the hard reset is complete.
