I recieved my fathers Uniden Bearcat BC80XLT after he passed away and I cant seem to be able to figure out how to re-program it for my area. I have the local scanner codes and need a little assistance...

Yours is a fairly simple one to program, and the best instructions are in the factory manual that you can download and print, at no cost, here:
http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC80XLTom.pdf

BTW, they're frequencies, not codes, and you can find a great database for your area at:

How to delete channels on the bc80xlt scanner

You can temporarily lock out a frequency by pressing the L/O key while the frequency is displayed, or can delete it by programming 0.0 (zero point zero) into the channel. Also, programming a new frequency into the channel will automatically delete/override the old frequency.

Need the manual for your scanner? You can download and print it, at no cost, here:

Need codes for san antonio texas police mobile and base. also border patrol in area

For a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in the San Antonio area, visit:

www.RadioReference.com

They're based in San Antonio and have extensive listings for the area. Unfortunately though, you're going to find that most agencies in the San Antonio area are operating on trunked systems - which your BC80XLT is not capable of following.

My uniden bc80xlt handheld scanner has lost all button functions. The radio still scans and picks up frequency broadcasts, but NONE of the buttons work. What is going on here?I have no" manual" function, I...

Sounds like you may have accidentally pressed the "LOCK" button. If there's a "key" icon showing, press the LOCK button at the bottom left of your keyboard, and hold it in until the icon disappears. In case you need it, here is a link to the operating manual for your scanner:

hi marie , follow these instructions carfully ,

1. Place the scanner on it's back on a hard surface with it turned "OFF".
2. Press down and hold down the following keys with your left hand. (MANUAL), (2) and (9)
3. While holding down these buttons, use your other hand to turn the scanner power "ON". Continue to hold all the buttons down until you hear a "click" and all the channels are cleared to 000.0000.
