Yours is a fairly simple one to program, and the best instructions are in the factory manual that you can download and print, at no cost, here: http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC80XLTom.pdf
BTW, they're frequencies, not codes, and you can find a great database for your area at: www.RadioReference.com
You can temporarily lock out a frequency by pressing the L/O key while the frequency is displayed, or can delete it by programming 0.0 (zero point zero) into the channel. Also, programming a new frequency into the channel will automatically delete/override the old frequency.
Need the manual for your scanner? You can download and print it, at no cost, here: http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC80XLTom.pdf
For a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area, and a lot of other useful scanning information, visit: www.RadioReference.com
For a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in the San Antonio area, visit:
www.RadioReference.com
They're based in San Antonio and have extensive listings for the area. Unfortunately though, you're going to find that most agencies in the San Antonio area are operating on trunked systems - which your BC80XLT is not capable of following.
Sounds like you may have accidentally pressed the "LOCK" button. If there's a "key" icon showing, press the LOCK button at the bottom left of your keyboard, and hold it in until the icon disappears. In case you need it, here is a link to the operating manual for your scanner:
1. Place
the scanner on it's
back on a hard surface with it turned "OFF".
2. Press
down and hold down
the following keys with your left hand. (MANUAL),
(2) and (9)
3. While
holding down these
buttons, use your other hand to turn the
scanner power "ON". Continue to hold all the buttons down
until you hear a "click" and all the channels are cleared
to 000.0000.
