How do I hook up Xbox 360 to the HDTV

Step 1:

Connect the audio/video input of the component cable into the "A/V" port located on the back of the xbox 360

Step 2:

Match the red, blue and green cables on the other end of the component cable to the corresponding component ports on your HDTV. If your HDTV has more than one set of component inputs, make note of which one you use.

Step 3:

Slide the switch on the component cable to "HDTV."

Step 4:

Turn on your HDTV. Set the video mode to the component port that will be used. HDTVs with multiple component ports will usually be labeled "Component 1," "Component 2" and so on

Step 5:

Turn on the Xbox 360. Go to "My Xbox." Select "System Settings" then "Console Settings" then "Display" and then "HDTV Settings." Choose the display setting (720p, 1080i and 1080p) that is best compatible with your HDTV. If you're not sure, try them all until you find the one that looks best.

Step 6:

Disconnect any previously connected A/V or component cables.

Step 7:

Connect the HDMI AV cable connector to the "HDMI AV" port on the Xbox 360.

Step 8:

Connect the other end to an available HDMI port on your HDTV. If your HDTV has more than one HDMI input, make note of which one you use.

Step 9:

Turn on your HDTV. Set the video mode to the HDMI port that will be used. HDTVs with multiple component ports will usually label them "HDMI 1," "HDMI 2" and so on.

Step 10:

Turn on the Xbox 360. Go to "My Xbox." Select "System Settings" then "Console Settings" then "Display" and then "HDTV Settings." Pick the display setting (720p, 1080i and 1080p) that looks best on your HDTV.

Can i hook up my xbox 360 to my aquos tv with just the red, yellow, and white cable? Right now I am not getting a color pic

Yes you can but it won't be Hi def. It sounds like you're trying to connect the cables to the Hi def input (Red, blue, green, white and red for the audio) That's not the right place to connect to.

How do i hook up my xbox 360 to the Sharp Aquos

You have a few options actually. depending on which 360 you have you have at least 3 ways to connect; 4 if you have CDMI cable output on Elite 360. you only need to pick one though. easiest is the plug with one yellow and a red and white. the yellow is the video and the red and white are the left and right audio. You can use the red green blue plugs choice if your tv has that input. in that case the red green blue are the video and you use the other paired red white for audio. You can use the S video connection (the round one that looks like a mouse plug) for video. You can use the HDMI (flat, looks like giant USB slot) for really high quality video. So, basically just use whatever cable you happen to have. If you still have questions, please ask as we will definitely get you hooked up for sure:) farmerbear at FixYa

Hi 4 yo x box 360 turns on fine with normal

If you are using the component cables, assuming it's the same cables that came with it 4 years ago, there is a little switch on the part that hooks up to the Xbox360. The two options are HD and Regular. Try moviing that switch to the other position. Also try another tv, friends or family if you don't have another one. Also, if you have a friend with a 360, swap out the component cables as these have been known to go bad after a while.

Plays dvds on xbox 360 fine, but no picture for games/dashboard

already solved it. thanks. i couldn't see the xbox settings blade because of the blank screen so switched my component cable to the tv setting instead of the hdtv setting, then i could see the dashboard in non-hd and switched the resolution to 720p while simultaneously switching the component cable back to the hdtv setting. that worked.

While playing xbox 360 in 1080p mod, the screen frequently blanks

Most TV's have problems doing 1080p over component. Dial the Xbox back to 1080i. Make sure the big switch on the Xbox AV cable is set to 'HDTV' not 'TV'(common problem) If the problem persists, try plugging into different hookups, use HDMI (if your console supports it) or buy one of the HDMI adaptors from PDP or MadCatz if your console doesnt. HDMI will reduce the clutter and will make 1080p a reality.

Xbox and tv = no sound

Yes, those cables are quite common. Check any electronics retailer like Best Buy or Walmart.
