I need the cylindrical gear shaft that goes in the mixer part so you can use the attachments (like the dough hooks and whisks). Mine broke tonight and I've been searching like mad for a replacement. Can anyone help?
I just talked with Blendtec about this issue, since I had the same problem. I asked if there was a stronger drive shaft since my previous Kitchen Champ model had a different, sturdier drive shaft that lasted about ten years.
The company representative explained that the new drive shaft is designed to break, but that's to save the motor. If the stress on the drive shaft could damage or cause excessive wear to the motor, the drive shaft breaks instead.
She also recommended using just enough flour so that the bread dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. The reason most drive shafts experience too much stress is due to too much flour in the recipe.
To replace the drive shaft, go to http://www.blendtec.com/Parts.aspx or call Blendtec at 1-800-Blendtec
The only part that will work for the Kitchen Champ is the Drive Shaft (Champ). Apparently, the German drive shaft -- which looks like the one from my old Kitchen Champ -- is not interchangeable.
Since this is my second Kitchen Champ and my previous one lasted over ten years, I'm delighted to understand what went wrong. I'm hopeful that using less flour will prevent another problem. And, I'm very pleased with how helpful Blendtec was, explaining this to me.

Blendtec is a division of K-Tec and they are now the main contact for these products. They have the Drive Shafts for the "German", "Elite", "Champ", and "German to Champ upgrade". I'm not sure what that last means but maybe it'll be a shaft that doesn't break off on a regular basis. At one point, they sent us a metal shaft for our Kitchenetics unit but it wasn't all that compatible. (I think it might have ruined the unit but I can't remember and we can't check it out without ordering another shaft.) You can't contact them by email (their online form won't accept an email address with @ and it won't accept one without it).

Mine keeps breaking also. This is the third one I have had to purchase. I think the replacements are not as quality as the original one that came with the machine.
So mine just broke last nite too. Lame. It's an older model, but I think the design is the same. "Guest", you said you bought other parts...where did you get them?
Thanks for the help!!!
My gear shaft broke as well, snapped off while mixing dough and I can't find parts anywhere online. Love to find a solution to use the machine again.
